I just ordered the Naraku. I trust it $25 worth more than the one from Scrappy and it was in RP's US warehouse. With an extra pin bearing and 3 variator nuts it was $131. Still gotta get seals and bearings (those weren't in the US warehouse). It was expensive getting no gains from high revs. lol

Did you notice that it's out of stock though? I looked at it and TP does have a better rep than Naraku... but I think Naraku might be better than what Scrappy sells and it's in stock in a US warehouse. I like Scrappy... but from some stuff I've got there it seems you get the cheapest stuff they can possibly source. Doesn't always bother me, but it does worry me with engine parts. I already got a cylinder from them that I wouldn't use at the beginning of the project because the boost port was half the size of any other I've seen.

The HPC would be worth the money almost just for the bearings. I paid just under $20 for 2 SKFs. If it were a build just to be a build... as opposed to trying to see what works on a more stock style engine... I'd go for an HPC crank. 190mech had some info about that and it was saying that basically because we have crappy transfers, high primary compression is desirable.

The motorcycle mechanic I go to charged only about $20 to press the crank apart, put the new rod in and true it up again. He can do it in about ten minutes. He does have a jig made up for doing cranks though. He is a proper motorcycle mechanic you see. I would have thought there would have been shitloads of old motorcycle mechanics lying around everywhere in the USA?

A lot of them laugh at little motors. The 50cc crowd doesn't always get much respect here.
I took T1 into town last night to drop something off real quick since P49 is down. Riding with a car in front of me and behind me and someone on the sidewalk decided to throw a firecracker at me. They missed. It was dark so all I know is it was 2 ppl. I kept going and then started getting mad. Turned around, but I guess they ran off. I'm very easy going. Not someone that feels the need to yell at or beat on people in general, but I'm getting fed up with the shit I get when I'm on a scooter.

If you are going to drill holes, make sure you put a good radius on the edges of the hole, otherwise it may crack.

I would not want to be drilling a hole in a conrod. Might work though, depends on how good a quality the conrod is.

Here are his comments...
"you should bore a hole in the crank rod so the bearing gets lubricated and cooled"
"on my racing engine (that has 42hp) mods i drilled the block and instaled the oil pump to drop oil directly on the bearings and evry crank i have has the oiling holes or ill drill them on my industrial drill (important not to use a hand drill because you could bring the crank out of balance)."
I've tried to get him to join the forum in the past, but he won't. Looked through his vids. Other than his big bike, I don't see any scoots that look like 42HP. :dunno: I can't figure out how a different drill would change if the crank was balanced or not.

I was just thinking... I may not do those oil experiments I mentioned (lean mix ratios). I didn't care so much about the stock crank, but I've never owned anything better than stock for a 50-70cc. I might not wanna risk it if I still have it in one piece by the time the rest is done. The crank and bearings and seals cost more than I paid for the whole engine/cvt shipped originally.

They "upgraded" me from USPS to FedEx... even though USPS is better, here at least. Tracking says delivery tomorrow.
