So I am new to the forum but have watched many of the videos. I have a 2013 Taotao ATM 50 A-1. It ran good for about a month last year then started to degrade. It would shutoff after about 10 secs just idling. And it would shutoff when I stop. I have less than 1000km on it so far. I replaced the original carb with a Keihin recently. I thought I had it all worked out after that. I adjusted the carb, let it sit and idle for probably 20 minutes and drove around for about 45 minutes. No problems arose. The next day I started it and it would shutoff after 10 to 15 secs at idle. Today it starts up just fine. I adjusted the carb to get it to idle just fine, but then give it just a little throttle and let off and it shuts off. And the issue of driving then coming to a stop and shouting off is back. Also I have driven it around the yard a little but it loses power after a minute or so of riding. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am not very experienced with small engines but learn rather quickly.

So I finally got a feeler gauge and the time to check it out. As found the valves were tighter than 0.0015 inches. That's the smallest gauge I had. Adjusted them to about 0.004. It does tap slightly. I can hear it. Adjusted the carb after and all seems good. Next I will be looking for some improvements in terms of maintaining speed on hills. But for now thanks for the help!

No worries on the valve clattering, it's to be expected To improve speed maintenance on hills, try to get ur RPMs right up around max HP (7500ish RPM) can be done by installing lighter rollers, or upgrading to a slightly heavier contra/torque spring. Word is not to go higher than a 1000rpm contra, too much engine braking with the 1500 and 2000rpm ones for the little 139qmb. My shifting range (downshift too) went up about 500rpms when i went from a stock contra, to a 1000rpm contra spring. Have fun, welcome to the forum!
