Hi all! I'm new and I hope I'm posting to the right area, if not my apologies. I recently replaced the stock air box with a high flow cone filter and rejetted to a #85 (from a stock #70). I also installed new unrestricted CDI, orange coil, and iridium spark plug at the same time. After making the mods, I took it out for a 10min WOT ride. The pic shows the spark plug after ride, am I running rich? Also these are the changes I noticed. The bike hesitates off idle (feels like almost a second). Once it takes off, acceleration has definitely improved. The scoot also seems to be losing acceleration at 20-25mph. Any input would help! Thanks in advance! that's a 4stroke if i got good info when i looked it up.
if so, it looks a little rich at idle. hard to tell if its lean at wide open with the angle of the plug. your main jet indication is way down at the base of that ceramic in the middle, all i can see is the tip of the ceramic so.. can't tell really.
idle does appear a little fat, at least for my liking. but its best to get your main jet set right first, then set your idle. often people will adjust for a lean main setting by fattening up the idle, and vice versa.

Hard to tell without seeing the "mixture ring" like Upgrayyed mentioned. Most here prefer the stock air box over those cone filters as apparantly they're difficult to get into tune. I'm a 2T guy, but it took me awhile to get the hang of reading spark plugs. There's great info in the tech section about gaining this very important skill!
Oh yeah, WELCOME!

I agree with Upgrayed. A bit fat on your idle mixture, perhaps a bit on the main. Kinda hard to tell about the advance on the timing. There's no distinct line on the strap. Maybe a bit more advance. Check out this site. www.4secondsflat.com/Spark_plug_reading.html

Thank everyone! I swapped the jet and air filter back to stock. Going to leave the unrestricted CDI, orange coil and iridium plug(although after fouling it as I did, I will be replacing that plug with a new one) and see how that goes. Also, I'm going to swap my stock Variator rollers out for 6gram sliders once I can figure out how to safely break the nut free...lol. I've tried my impact with no luck so far. I know that it's tough to get off the first time, but WOW! Any suggestions on that one?

There is a method I've used to get the variator nut off when my impact wouldn't do it... but it's not advisable... can damage the engine...don't try this at home etc. etc. I pull the spark plug out and wedge an allen wrench-wrapped in elecrical tape-into the hole to trap the piston against the head so you can torque on the variator nut to get it off. THIS COULD CAUSE DAMAGE!! Just want to be clear that this method isn't advisable, but I've had to use it once or thrice to break the initial factory torque.
