Is it missing a splined washer that sits between the star nut & the fins? If it's needing the fan teeth redone your best bet would be drill out the center and weld a slug in it and have it re-machined. Only temp fix would be make some sort of soft material casting, center it and use some sort of epoxy like JB. let it set and burn out the soft center, but that's not advisable especially since it's a chunk of metal spinning @ 9k.

Looks to me like it got loose, or was improperly installed. I dont think the fixed half of the pulley was toothed, just worn that way from being loose. Hopefully you can get by with a new fixed half, and a new star washer if you think the crank is still good. I may have a used fixed half around here, and a star washer to go with it. Let me know.

It had a large fender washer in there as a spacer on the outside. I thing your right about the teeth OG. The nut was tight so I'm guessing something wasn't lined up or spaced properly. I didn't try and wiggle the pulley.

No splined washer on these Clank. Just the star washer and kick starter gear are splined.

Looks like the star washer is worn small and the recess for it is worn big. I have two extra fixed face w/star and ks cog but they are both big spline

The star washer isn't bad actually although it should still be replaced. The fixed half recesses are huge now. Funny thing is it looks factory machined a little. I guess 8k rpms will do that.

Had the same thing happen when I used A really thin shim behind the variator... looked exactly like that..I do have a stock crank somewhere if you need to go that way I'd be willing to donate.

Funny thing though, I don't remember that star washer being so "Spacey"... It was a tight fit. How the hell can that happen if it's all in and snug?

Thanks Sitticus I think the crank is going to be okay. Space is a little tight to be pulling a motor and breaking it down with three scoots, a bench, shelves and tools in a one car garage so I'm hoping. The backplate and star washer slide on fine. All my stuff except the OR is large spline.

Sitticuss, If you'd be willing to part with the crank, I'll pay for shipping and even throw you a few bucks for your trouble? I'd say I'd like to get it just in case. I know Dave is limited on space right now but if it turns out that the motor would have to be pulled, I'd rather at least have a good stock crank handy just in case. As for the Vari/Fixed pulley, if I had to buy those new with a new vari I don't mind. My goal is to upgrade this thing eventually, if that means it has to sit for a while getting "fixed" so be it, I'm not in a rush for it to run right now. So I'd like to take advantage of that and gather what I can without going crazy. Dave, how did you get the exhaust to seal? Was the gasket I ordered not enough?

Those Hoca gasket won't seal with the recess in a stock pipe and the metal ring in the gasket. I had a flat S6 gasket left.
