Okay, here's my next question...Why is my scooter so hard to start in the morning? Sometimes it won't start at all!..Overnight I plug it up to a Battery Tender Jr. ..It's not that cold in the mornings in North Carolina right now... It seems to start fine in the afternoon..I put on a new starter, ignition coil, and CDI...Does the battery charger have anything to do with it?  |

I'm 49 years old and i'm like that too in the morning.
Could be that you're on the lean side of a good carb adjustment. Colder morning could be affecting your mixture.

Is it having a hard time turning over or is it turning but not firing?

I'll have to check how to adjust the carb mixture...My battery is 2 months old with a CCA of 95. Is that enough? It's going to get colder and this is my only transportation right now, except for my bicycle. I'm 48 and it's getting old pedaling my ass up these hills in the morning.  |

Try 2 twists on throttle before starting trick , for some reason all my scoots want a few twists before cold starting , kinda primes carb via accelerator pump. They fire instantly then enricher kicks in.  |

Will a CCA rating of 95 on my battery be good enough for starting when it gets in the low 30's temps?

Have you tried turning the throttle when turning it over? If your idle mixture is too lean to start but the rest of the throttle is fine then this will start it (and slowly die afterwords unless you keep the throttle pinned) If thats the case then turn your air screw for idle a bit more rich.

You will want to turn this screw in to richen (clockwise). If it won't start in the morning even with giving it gas you might have a different problem though. Try this and remember what setting it was on originally. If it still does not start, put it back to where it was when you found it. |

idk what weight oil youre running; i live in the mtns in NC.. i use a 5w40 instead of 15w40, for easy winter starts, among other things.
may help you out for the cold season - wally world carries 5w40 rotella, works great, turns over a heck of a lot easier in winter than 15w40.
it works good in summer too.
id double check my battery connectionz, and ground straps.

also would be good to make sure its getting fuel. if it has the original vacuum petcock, it could be sticking/failing, starving the carb on a cold start, making for a hard/no start, and hard idle until it opens up and lets fuel flow

I put in Royal Purple 10w-40 oil...My scooter is 2 years old. It's got 2850 miles on it...How long does a petcock fuel valve last?
