Faulty shutoff, tank leak, or someone is stealing your gas. Could be that it only leaks with more fuel in the tank from either a leak above a certain fuel level or I suppose additional weight of more fuel persuading it to move. I didn't get the chance to examine it closer today. I was hurting to bad to mess with it. I figure it is a leak in the tank. I had the line shut off and plugged off and it was dry. If anyone tried to steal the fuel out of it where it is sitting they wouldn't be able to carry it off. I have two dogs they would have to get by to get to it first and by that time the barking would have alerted me to someone being out there since Koko doesn't bark unless someone is out there or if there is a Fox out there. I am a very light sleeper and if she barks it wakes me up since she is chained right outside the corner of the house by the garage drive.

Quite possibly the gasket that seals on the bottom of the tank? I had mine fail before and it was a pita to find one that fit right because my bike has a different tank than the ones I've found fuel petcocks for on parts for scooters. All of em were just a hair diff so I had to use some neoprene fuel line that just fit inside of the threads for it and cut about a 1.5mm tall circle of it and stuff it in there. Its held up great for a few thousand miles and hasn't leaked since so it seems to be my best bet.

It leaves about 1/2 a gallon or so in the tank.

If that plastic filter thing isn't on there it could go dry and with my bike atleast the rubber o ring actually seals between the plastic filter and the tank while rubbing against the petcock down below the threads on a smooth surface. If the rubber o ring goes for me it will drain the tank but if its still intact you should have a little gas in the tank. Is there rust inside your tank at all? Mines almost polished aluminum texture and reflectiveness so it would pop out in an instant. Maybe a tiny drop of that UV dye from a parts store and a black light are instore. Way faster and easier than stressing out about it or straining your eyes and back. And yes it is at the very bottom of the tank.

I have a backlight bulb that fits in a regular style lamp so I can put it in the trouble light and use that, I'll just have to get the dye. No there isn't any rust in the tank but that doesn't mean there isn't a small hole somewhere on it since the P.O. did wreck it. Shoot he has wrecked his new one twice that I know of.

Ohh wow he has some bad luck on those things or drives it crazier than I drive mine. I think id invest in that dye then. It comes in handy for quite a few things when you have it. I'd try and not run the bike with that dye in the tank though. I'm sure it wouldn't matter but I like to play it safe as much as possible. If the tank leaks your fuel out again that should be good enough to get it out. I doubt that few specs that might still be in the tank at that point would leave any residue in your carb. I hope you manage to track that leak down soon so you can get it running and on the road.

One of these days he is going to get caught driving it. He drives a scooter so he doesn't have to take the bus back and forth to his job. He is riding it without tags, allot of the time he is drunk when riding it, and he is driving while revolved for DWI third offence. He gets caught again in this state he not only loses his scooter but he get charged with a class e felony.

Ohh wow yeah your right about the crazy part. I hope he comes to his senses before he ruins his life. Did you get a chance to check anything out this weekend? No I haven't, I have been in too much pain the last few days that I have not wanted to do much of anything. Spent most of the day at the Saturday at the ER just to get some antibiotics. Having the normal amount of pains I have with my knees and back is bad enough but having a abcest tooth that needs to be pulled makes it even worse. They gave me some stronger pain medication that I don't like taking, it kills the pain somewhat but it knocks me out for a few hours every time I take it. Basically I am sleeping at least two hour between very six hour dose. Bending over to examine the scooter just makes the pain go off the chart. As soon as I get this inflection out of the way and get this tooth pulled I'll get back to working on the scooter. Hopefully I will not run out of time before my surgery to get this running. Have allot going on in the next few weeks. Getting this tooth pulled, getting all the pre- op stuff done, packing up all my stuff to move into my new place two days before my knee surgery and getting everything unpacked and setup in less that two days before the knee replacement. Looks as if it is going to be spring time before I am going to get to really enjoy the scooter. If that is the case I might as well save up and put a new top end in it and get my motorcycle endorsement back on my license which never should have been removed in the first place.

Yikes I'm sorry to hear it all happened at once like that. I hope all goes well with the move and surgery so you can relax and not be wore out and in pain every day. Back and knee injuries are the worst because there's no relief without going comatose and not getting to enjoy it and relax. Is the infection atleast staying in your tooth region or is it spreading? Infections in your head are a scary thing for me.

It is staying in the tooth area and the antibiotics seem to be starting to work. As soon as I finish this round of antibiotics they will pull the tooth. I finally got a picture of that clip that I had left in my cleaning bucket from the carburetor I just have to upload it and maybe someone knows where it goes so I can put it back on. Pain+ Meds+ repairing carb= left over parts that you don't remember removing. It kind of looks like an A in shape with the top of the A being the bolt hole. Also to save some cash I wonder if I can somehow glue the metal inserts back in the mirrors so that they will hold in place when rebolted to the frame.

While laying here in the hospital bed after my surgery this morning and got to thinking if there is any type of glue that will hold those metal inserts inside those mirrors so I can use them instead of having to buy new ones?

Honestly I'm not sure on the glue maybe rear view mirror cement from a parts store. Or some epoxies but I think the epoxy costs almost as much as a new set of mirrors. Parts For Scooters has some mirrors on clearance most days and if not I might have a set or 2 laying around if you can find a way to get them mounted. Glad to hear your doing alright after your surgery hopefully it stays that way and you improve in the very near future.

I'm having the same dilemma almost. I bought new mirrors because I was initially missing one. Well I put the right side on fine but the left side, the hole is stripped so bad the mirror won't hold. So when I get time and when the weather is good, I'm going to mix up some JB Weld and fill the hole. Not all the way, I'm going to try and just coat the inside with a good layer, then re-tap it and see if it works. If it does, I'll put it all in my post. That would be the better way I'd think, so you're not permanently gluing in your mirror you know. In case you have to remove the plastic to replace a bulb or relay or something.

Hmm that might be a good idea but if it doesn't you could maybe look for a metric bolt adapter thing. I seen a few on eBay when I was looking for a reverse thread mirror bolt and said screw it and just kept the stock mirrors for now. I want to say I found a 10mm to 8mm thread adapter it raises the mirror a hair but aslong as it works thats all that matters. If not the switch block new is only around 15-20 bux so atleast its not super expensive.
