First, I logged in as my dad cuz our phone remembered his stuff. Next I thinkbI killed his scooter. He is locked up for wailing on the guy that robbed us last winter. I was not supposed to ride it, but I couldnt help myself. Hes getting out in 59 days and I am afraid he will be disappointed in me. Okay, I was on the thing going.down the road and it just shut off. I found it to have no spark, checked all connections, and came to the conclusion that tue coil was dead. Wwrong I ordered one, put it on and nothing. Stqrted checking wiring and for current and found no power going to the coil. There is juice to the cdi and the ignition module, and the dasy lights flicker when its kicked over, so the stator is making juice, but no spark. How do I check the pulser or the pickup? Or do I get ya cdi box, please help me. I came here cuz of how dad talks about you guys, he says you all know your stuff. The scooter is a E ton Beamer pn2a with a expansion pipe and a 70cc kit with the green limiter wire cut. Plrase help me, I hate to dissappoint dad, he tries so hard for us, better than our biological father, and I feel terrible. Any help would be great. I will stay as his name for now cuz its easier but when I get time on my phone I will make an acount. Thanks guys,

The Eton uses a direct current cdi i know it has worked without a good battery but try jumper cables or a battery charger and then check for spark and let me know Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards Thanks. I tried to jump it at first, cuz i didnt know he didnt have a elec. Starter, i thought the battery was just bad I read this and tried but still no spark. I just re-capped and taped the terminals. I have helped him work on four wheelers cars and stuff, but he usualy worked on tge scooter during school or at night, so most of this is new to me. I understand the basics but the electrical workings are all a lot different. I folowed the juice to the cdi box, in to and out of the regulator/rectifier, and what looks like a ignition module. The hot for the coil is tge same wire througg all that, the juice makes it to the module ib tge front, but not through for the coil. I even tried a straight hot wire from the main hot, to the. Coil. Can the little pulser thing cause this? I know it could in a car, the mag. Pickup wont let anything out of the coil if its bad, kinda like this, but i am not sure about this thing. To me it sound right, but I also thought the coil would fix it because of a broken tester. Dads tester is screwed i got a good one of my uncles now. This is like taking a spanish two test before taking your first spanish one class. I am kibda messes up

I'm not used to the DC ignition systems, but I'm assuming the pickup would be similar to AC and should put out somewhere near 0.5V on the wire from it when cranking. If not, check the air gap between the reluctor (bump on flywheel) and the pickup. Something like 0.010-0.030" is good.

Check the kill switch mine acts goofy at times and i have to kick it in the kill position then switch it back to the run to get it to work

Okay, I removed, disassembled, cleaned, reassembled and checked the kill switch, and even by-passed the key switch. Nada. Also, there seems to be no voltage on the wire for the pickup, I filed the screw holes on the pulser so I could lower the gap and still nada. So, where can I find a pickup coil for dads beamer? Will just any of them work?how much should i expect to spend here? I cant even let mom know, shed be pissed, but i can handle that better than dad being let down or dissappointed in me. Thank you guys for your help.

Hey all, I'm home now, gitta love over crowded jails, and shock probation! HELL, NO I am not mad at him, I am actualy proud of him for his effort trying to fix the bije, as well as his resourcefulness. I think he was right, I believe the oickuo. Is dead. That might help explain how I kept running lean, weak, or. No spark at times.

Thanx guys..... great to be home. @rpm, thanx for the offer man, I believe we can fix it, as soon as I can find & pay for a pickup. On that note, would any single wire, dc mina pick up work? They are all similar, arent they?
