Hi! So after about a month of rebuilding a very broken scooter, I finally got it to run today... Though only for a minute. It started slowly after about 10 min of trying, and spewed loads of white smoke out the back until it died a minute later. I tried adjusting the fuel/air mixture and idle with no difference made. Then it wouldn't even try to start again. I noticed gas coming out of the air box and verified that the float wasn't stuck or anything and the petcock is working only when suction is applied. I drained the bowl and tried to start it again. After about a minute it started up again spewing more white smoke than died. It again wouldn't start, so I drained the bowl...again... And it started for a minute than died. I have triple checked valve and spark gaps. Everything should be working but I think something is throwing too much fuel in, it only starts with wide open throttle and it sputters to a start.

White smoke is usually not fuel, but oil. Could be bad rings. Could be something going on causing bad over-fueling that washes down the cylinder walls and dilutes the oil with gas. Check your oil and see if the level has risen, it's thin, and if it smells like gas. Do a compression test if possible.

What should my compression be?

What should my compression be? 90 PSI minimum 120-150 would be good

So I took off the spark plug and its coated in oil... What's my next step? Piston rings or head gasket?
