So this is new. I bought this Gorilla Motorworks M1 about a month ago. It was made in June 2013. So it's not old, beat up or anything. I got it with less than 500 miles.
It's got about 575 on it now.
What I've done to it: I changed the fuel lines/filter and vacuum lines. I've also had to play with the idle speed screw from time to time.
It doesn't like to start cold. By cold I don't mean weather, we are no where NEAR to cold weather down here. But lately I find that it won't start from a cold start unless I partially cover the snorkel on the airbox. Sometimes I have to manually "choke" it to keep it running, or when it starts I have to keep giving it gas or turn the idle up 1/2 turn to keep it alive. Otherwise it puts out.
One other thing while it's cold, when I give it throttle till about 1/3, it acts like it's going to bog out. But if I go above 1/3 it rev's fine?
All this goes away after a few minutes of it running.
So. Valve adjustment? Bad Enricher?
It's all stock, sealed carb and all. I haven't touched a thing aside from what I listed above. Yes it's getting fuel, yes the vac is fine. It feels like having to suffocate it to get it started means it's too lean, which tells me the enricher died?
I'm still in some pain so digging into it right now is out of the question. Doing the headlights was enough for me for today. I just am bouncing ideas off here in the hopes that one of my thoughts is an obvious issue that I can solve later.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but if the enricher stopped working then it'd just be richer all the time? correct? Assuming that it quit working in the default "open" position...

Sounds like too rich at idle, but then you say you cover it and it starts fine. weird.

Have you tried twisting the throttle back twice and then starting? I've heard some do this with success. I think valve problems usually show up once the motor is hot and they get tight.

If it was me, I would start by playing with the mixture screw on the side of the carburetor. If that doesn't help then the next step for me would be to check the valve clearances and look at/change the stock spark plug to an NGK C7HSA if it has a cheapy Chinese plug in there. If your carb has a cap over the mixture screw so you cant adjust it, drill it out. this link shows a 150 carb but its the same for 50's: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/5148/removing-cap-sealed-mixture-screw

Yeah, I've twisted once and twice and it doesn't seem to make a difference. Once it's warm it starts right back up though. I just took it to get gas and stopped at my cousins on the way. It stalled out when I stopped at his place but when I stopped at a stop sign it was idling ok. Sometimes the idle revs up on its own while it's sitting I've noticed. Maybe this is why the guy traded it in? haha. I can already tell I'm going to buy a new carb for this thing soon. I got the LED lights in. I have to say they're nice, but I have sort of the same problem as Brent did. They focus too forward and not really down enough. But I think I have one of them or both put in the wrong way. My High Beam light stays on and when I flick the switch to High Beam it doesn't seem like much of a difference, like one goes and the other doesn't change? Odd.

I'm in no shape right now to take the carb out of there and it's dark anyways. I've already checked the plug when I first got it and it has an NGK C7HSA in it and I have a spare too. I know I'll have to do valve clearance on it soon, problem is I already have one scoot that I'm planning on putting a pipe and BBK on and that's going to take a lot of my time. I don't have the room for two scoots to be taken apart.

I've ordered the NGK spark plug boots. Both a 90degree (for the Baccio) and a 120degree for this M1 today. I'll keep you posted when they get here and how they are. I will be replacing the one on this M1 first as that seems to be an issue I'm having with it. Stay tuned.

I just got a couple after having issues with the boot that came on the Bando coil. It took a week and a half to get one from Broward Powersports. I could of walked there and back in two days. Got one from Gforce the next day after order. I now have a Naraku coil that came from RP in five weeks. Ordered the Bando coil from partsforscooters and got it the next day. Why I ordered from these other places I don't know. Dumb I guess. The ngk boots are great!

They're coming from Kentucky (Dammit, THOSE BANJOS ARE BACK!!!) so they should be here hopefully by this weekend. I was tempted to order coils too but one step at a time for me. I already have too much shiza to work on. Even with my still tender back, I was outside changing weights and put the CVT back on the Baccio to take it for a spin. Did some more stuff I'll throw in the thread in a bit too. Whatever it is, I get nervous when both these things don't start right away. Then again they do sit for days at a time so maybe that has something to do with it. Took me a few min to get the VX50 started just now. But man does it idle friggin nice and steady and not a peep from the bottom.

If I was single and didn't have a garage they'd be in my living room. Lol. Banjos Believe me, I've contemplated that. I'd install a damn ramp at my door too. I just don't think I can live if I tossed a scooter part into one of my speakers or my TV.

Yeah if I pulled the scoot in the house I'd need a wheelchair ramp. I've got pictures of my old Zip in the living room of my old house with my old dog Jack. Oh the good Old days. Anyone have a nice l/c R/T cylinder they want to trade for a wife. I kid, I kid. Kinda
