I just pulled my OEM carb and intake of my 50cc scoot engine. I noticed the intake passage on the head does not line up with the two studs. The intake passage is 18mm ID, the spacer ID is 16mm, and the spacer lines up with the intake passage. The intake manifold on the other hand DOES line up with the studs and forces the spacer to occlude even more of the passageway from the intake to the spacer.
I have purchased a new intake spacer and it has a 16mm hole and is offset also.
Is there a reason the intake and the spacer and head passage sizes vary and are not lined up?

I was trying to be sarcastic about the obnoxious carb jetting crap back then also.
I know how to fix it so everything lines up I am just wondering about the reason. I figure it is a restriction on HP and RPM for the state regulated 50cc's to make it hard for the average Joe to get around.

Idk about that cause I port matched it and the scoot ran like s#¡t. I bought another space, installed it and it ran good again.

It could be there as an anti-reversion device but I would think larger engines would use them also. I have not dug into the 150cc setup enough to stack up those port sizes.
I have learned enough to know I don't want to ream out my head port etc to run 150CC parts.
If it isn't an anti-reversion device I have an extra adjustable jet on my carb to fix the running shit.
BTW, tampons covered with a little grease make good port stuffers with the string and all. Just drip a little water on them and BOOM, instant stuffing even through the grease. Just don't let your wife or girlfriend know...

What box? I don't live in a box but with the temperatures in the house I might as well be. I just have many years of experience doing many things. Doer of many things, master of nothing. A port stuffer is used to keep chips and other things from falling down too far into the port so they can be easily removed.

Lol Frank. We also used tampons up north for deer hunting. We'd hang them in trees and put the doe estrogen pee stuff on them. Once it rained they blew up like a balloon!

Duct tape is OK for just covering something. Crumpled into a ball it works OK as a port stuffer for when you are working on a port. Sometimes chips get past all that adhesive though.
I am waiting for a few more parts. Then I will see what I can make out of them.

Hmmm, I guess nobody knows why the head port is 18mm, the spacer port is 16mm, and both are offset from the center of the OEM intake 17mm port. The OEM carb outlet port is 20mm, and the OEM intake carb side port is 19mm. Mismatches like that would never be tolerated even in production automobiles. I guess I will endeavor to line them back up with proper size transitions. BTW, another type of port stuffers are plastic inserts that are used to modify port sizes and shapes in automotive apps, also (dildos).

No idea why there are so many mismatched parts. My best answer is made in China. I would think if it's an anti-reversion device it would make more sense to keep the holes centered, but use a small mismatch on one part. No need for everything to be out of line.
