i am have a 139qmb engine and I have had some suspicions that the stator is on its way out so I checked my battery and its only charging at 12.5 volts running at idle and no change when its revving. i have recently installed a new regulator/rectifier. I then checked the output of the stator and I am only getting 0.4Vac(200 volts scale on multimeter) after reconnecting the plug for the stator I started it and now have no headlights and when I turn on the light switch the main fuse glows bright orange. has anyone got some advice please.

With the fuse glowing I'd be worried that there's a short somewhere. Find out if the fuse heats up only when running, anytime the key is on, or all of the time. Might wanna disconnect the battery and see if there is any continuity between the wires for the fuse and ground in any of the conditions mentioned.

Yup , im with 90gtvert , if problem started after messing with connectors etc. I would double check those areas first. Fuses should blow not glow! (Sorry for the lame rhyming)

If it's a used scoot maybe somebody put in a fuse that was way too big? Like Scooterpimp said- it should blow not glow!

sorry for the late reply. i have fixed the fuse issue turns out i have had multiple broken wires but I have now lost all electrical power to the tail lights, indicators, dashboard ignition etc. as I understand it these are all on the same circuit. I assume that there is one more broken/ loose wire somewhere. the only thing that works now are the headlights. thankyou for the responses.

All of that stuff gets ignition switched power. Make sure you have power to the switch and power coming out of the switch when on.
