I'll watch those videos and get on adjusting my valves and changing/checking the oil tomorrow, and hopefully that fixes the problem. Thank you

Oh I forgot one more thing: The starter not turning when you bypassed the relay points to a bad starter but it could be a loose connection at the starter motor itself. It's important you take care of the starter issue asap cause if you continue to use the kick starter all the time it's gonna break eventually and leave you stranded. Read this: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/432/gy6-kick-starter-tips-installation

Oh ok thanks! I'll definitely look into that. And I also found the (most likely) culprit: No oil at all. The person who I bought it from said everything had been changed recently, but they also said the electric starter worked haha, so live and learn I guess. I'm going to be putting oil in it today and really hoping I didn't mess my engine up.

Oh my! Running out of oil can't be good. I really hate hearing that is what happened to your scoot.

Billy Yeah, I definitely regret not looking more into scooter maintenance before I decided to buy one. Either way it's a lesson learned, and I know a great deal more about scooters for when I get a new one if mine is actually toast. Hopefully that isn't the case though.

shouldn't need a new scooter just a rebuild of the engine.

I bought a scoot recently and the sellers had run the engine with no oil and toasted the top end (cylinder, piston, etc.). I ended up repairing it by installing a BBK that cost $55! (of course I didn't have to pay any labor $$ since i did the install myself). Hope this is good news!

There may be a member nearby that can diagnose and repair it for you.

It definitely gives me some hope that I might be able to fix mine or at least have it repaired for a cost less than buying a whole new engine. So thanks

I was hoping that the damage wasn't too serious but I'm seeing that the general consensus is that it's never a good thing :/ Mine never actually died while riding it though, it just didn't start one day so I don't know if that makes any difference. I live in Chicago, and that would be great but I really wouldn't want to trouble anyone. I didn't get a chance to get oil in it today, but I'll being buying some tomorrow and seeing whether that fixes the problem or not. If it doesn't, I'm guessing I either have some expensive repairs to do or a non working scooter from what I've been reading here. I'm mostly hoping that the damage isn't bad enough to where it isn't repairable

You might get lucky. may just be a tight valve. Pour some oil in it, don't over-fill it, and check the valves.
