Hi guys.... I am new here and as a noob...I need help with my scooter.. its a 50cc motor...??
well...I have a 2005 Maxfine 50 QT Chinese scooter, which I believe has a copy cat minneralli engine.. It currently starts in kickstart but not on electric start... Originally it did start on electric start but after numerous electric starts and kickstarts due to dirty carb....which I eventually cleaned up... So now...it does start on kickstart but not on electric start.... I hear a click on start but no starter engagement...I have measured at least 12.5v at both side of the coil and 12.5 down at the starter connection....still no start...so I took out the starter and hooked up my 12v charger to it...positive to starter connection and negative to starter casing...and it did start no problem..... granted its not under load conditions... I even hooked up charger to start the bike (in the starting charging mode)...thinking that new battery didn't have enough juice.. so how do I load test this starter... can i take it to auto zone for their free starter test under load conditions...
I did open up the starter to check for oil or any irregularity....it was clean but one or two copper windings were broken off..I found the new starter on amazon for $25...
So...is it the starter or something else ?? or any input as of how I can fix the problem... BTW....is there any info on these 2005 Maxfine 50 qt model scooter...is this a 50cc motor or 49 cc motor???
thanks guys..

49cc
Try by-passing the relay by toughing a screwdriver between the two poles the red wires are connected to. If it doesn't spin the engine then it's the starter motor or there is a problem with the starter intermediate gear or the starter clutch. There's probably a post showing those components in the tech section. If it does spin when bypassing the relay then the relay is bad.

thanks guys....but scooter has NEW battery that I bought and I rebuild the carbs...
bat 12.5 to input relay wire connection point.....12.5v measured.. relay output wire to starter...12.5v measured when start button engaged.. wire connection point on STARTER from relay ouput....12.5 measured when start button engaged...
I think its a 2 stroke minnerali copy engine....there is a separate oil tank and gas tank... there is a auot oil injection point on the carb... there is no oil drain or filter that I can find...so no oil change or anything right??? there is only gear lube oil point openings/drain points ...
thanks... plus...anybody know how to register this bike in CA dmv...its never been registered in CA DMV system.... it has no Emission or any emission sutff on it...DOes it need emission for CA dmv to register.. I know they don't require smog emission test....

Ahh- sorry didn't catch that you had relaced the battery. A fully charged 12v battery should read around 13-13.7 volts. Yep- sounds like a 2 stroke. More than likely a 1e40qmb Minarelli. Identifying engine: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/2359/identifying-engineNo oil changes on a 2 stroke- just add oil when the tank gets low.

This is like your scooter right? I have owned 3 scooters exactly the same. They are also called a Vento zip and a Twist And Go LS49. Made by Qianjiang. They have a 1E40QMB 49cc. One of the mirrors is revere threaded. Cant remember which side. I see you are also in So. Cal. I'm in Los Angeles. If you aren't too far I can come by and have a look at it for free. There is a starter intermediate gear and a starter clutch behind the variator that could be mal-functioning. It takes an impact to get to them. 1E40QMB Minarelli parts: www.scrappydogscooters.com/50CC_2-STROKE_PARTS.html

LOL....not like...but its mine...I posted it for sale on ocmoto.com.... I just got it running and was trying to sell it ASAP.. its all explained here... linkI like to get it 100% fixed as it seems so close to being there. And if not...then I woulldn't mind to keep it for fun scooter bike... I like to wrench on bikes and when something doesn;t get fixed yet so close...it bugs me and I feel robbed. I am a DIY..by no means expert...just a noob DIY guy...know nothing about scooters but its growing on me... At fox...thanks for your offer of help....I will take you up on your offer, but first I am going to replace the starter and see if it works..If not...then I can truck my scooter over for your help, as I am in ontario/upland area...its kind of far away from you.. I really don't know much at all about this scooter, but I am learning... BTW....there is a scooter day ride up GMR posted on the forum... would be fun to go up canyons on scooters... It just bugs me when I can't find any manufacture info, model specs and service manual... but the biggest obstacle is registering this scooter into the CA dmv system....as I don;t have title or license tags....biggest issue seems like they may hassle me on CA emission approved model stuff??

I didn't read any of the info so it never occurred to me that was your scooter. I am actually in Pasadena so Ontario is a little drive but not that far. At $300 I'm VERY tempted to buy it myself. I have a buddy that can probably take care of the DMV stuff without hassle. As far as brand specific service manuals for these Chinese bikes there aren't any cause they slap so many different "brands" on the same models. The good news is you found this forum which has all the information you need and there is a 1e40qmb SERVICE MANUAL here: www.49ccscoot.com/manuals/manuals.html

update.... well..I put in a new starter bought from amazon and the bike now starts by electric start, easily and works fine... I also did a gear oil drain/fill with valvoline 80-90 gear oil...about 150ml.. Is 150ml volume correct for this bike...its a 1E40QMB 49cc engine... Next up is trying to get it registered in socal CA DMV registration process with no paperwork what so ever.. I was told that I would have to go to CHP to get certified as scooter/vin check, get paperwork and then go to CA DMV for paperwork completion.... Has anybody in socal done registration of 50cc scooter without paperwork and what is the best/easiest process to get it done hassle free...Will the DMV hassle me with emission stuff....saying carb/emission is not CA carb certified for socal.?? looking for advice on this....thanks guys for the help/links to this scooter... wondering if anybody wants to buy this scooter in socal for $300....only bill of sale...link---- scooter for sale

150ml may be a bit high... normally more like 100-120ml... but it should be OK. Worst case it will overflow a bit from a hole in the bottom of the case. Keep an eye on the scoot and clean it up if you see any overflow so gear oil doesn't end up on your tire.

If you have a friend with a shop you can have them do a lien sale on it and they should be able to get it registered and then have them "sell" it to you.

Hey guys... UPDATE... I posted scooter on craiglist and sold in within one day of posting... local scooter club guy bought it no problems..He knew all about the scooters and talked about modding up the motors to go faster... Nice guy...
well...this closes my chapter in scooter interaction...It has been a very enlightening experience as I discovered that scooter riding was fun... Before I would have just dissed on scooters....but have since found that it has a fun factor unlike motorcycle..its very noticeable difference in fun factor...
I might be back and if I do...definetly on a bigger motor CC...maybe 150 or 250cc motor so atleast could use it on the highways, commute, scenic rides by beach, canyons.
I want to thank the forum and its members for helping me out with info....You guys are very helful and welcoming of new comers to scooters...
thanks...BTW... I used to own a 1989 honda PC800...called honda pacific coast...people would often ask me if it was a scooter.... but it was a very practical bike and unique factor..
thanks guys...I will keep in tab on forum once in while..

Congrats on the quick sale. Scooters are pretty fun. There's a lot of haters out there that dis on the Chinese import scoots. One time I stopped to talk to a bunch of Vespa riders at a hamburger stand and they were less than welcoming but there are a lot of others that don't get caught up in the snobbery and see them as fun machines and not status symbols.
I remember when the Honda PCH came out. They are nice looking bikes. I saw a dark blue one yesterday.

Hi. Very new to scooters. I bought the same scooter as in this thread (2006 Twist N Go LS49). Front forks need new seals and dust covers or just a replacement. Can not find new parts ANYWHERE!. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. I'm not terribly mechanically inclined but have friends that can help. Thanks.
