I have the Koso and the DLH and they look like the same thing to me, with different logos stamped on. Others say the Koso is better.

Well I ordered all my new parts yesterday hopefully everything comes in on time and in good condition and I can figure out how to get everything put in an installed. The only thing I think I might have issues with is a valve adjustment other than that I think I should be ok. I know how to do the valve adjustment its holding the adjuster in place while I tighten the nut that I have problems with.

I think you should adjust your valves, check your plug, clean air filter, change oil, and make sure your carb is properly jetted and tuned before your start adding more mods to it. I have a 47mm bbk on my Taotao and I've clocked it at 51mph with a GPS app. Here's for the valves 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/428

I ordered a performance variator, rollers 49/17 final drive gearing and a exhaust system today so let's hope this does the trick. Will keep everyone updated. P.S. it's on 12" wheels.... It does not have enough horsepower to take advantage of those major gearing changes and could possibly be slower.

The POS will only go 32 right now. If this doesn't take care of the problem it's going to the scrap yard and I will go back to riding my 2007 that will do 40 all day long.(100% stock)

From this thread and your other one I'm still wondering if the carb was ever upjetted after BBK install? CVT tuning has a huge effect on scoot's performance. If there's not enough room between the faces of the variator the belt will be higher in the variator during take-off resulting in taking off in too high of a "gear". Kinda like trying to take off in 2nd or 3rd gear. When I get the CVT assembled I get my head right in there with a decent flashlight and closely study where the belt is etc. Adding shims/spacers/washer to make more room for the belt can help immensely with take-off- also roller weight tuning etc. Can take some experience to get good at CVT tuning but it can make all the difference in the world!

The POS will only go 32 right now. If this doesn't take care of the problem it's going to the scrap yard and I will go back to riding my 2007 that will do 40 all day long.(100% stock) Please listen to those that are sharing wisdom and experience. It will save you headaches. I am upgrading a 2014 Tao Tao with 653 miles on it. This scoot has 12" wheels and would only go about 25mph on level, plus climbing a small hill was under 15mph. It wanted to move even @ idle. This is what I found on close inspection of this all original scoot: The scoot had a 39mm (49cc) cylinder & piston. The piston was scuffing the side of the cylinder. The exhaust valve had zero clearance and oil was being drawn into the engine through the valve guide. Oil had already deposited a coating onto the upper cylinder wall and piston dome over .030" inches thick. The oil was overfilled drastically. The carb was running extremely rich. The exhaust is an upsized muffler from a 150cc and had lost its flange retainers @ the cyl head. The variator exhibited damage like that shown in the Admins project and the rollers were destroyed . The belt already has lost 1mm + of top width. The body plastics are breaking tabs and every retainer is very loose. Best procedure is to fix one thing at a time and get it performing the best it can, before moving on to installing other items, especially those that have documented questionable gains. Can't remember where I read it but a variator of 95mm diameter would help top speed AFTER you get it running properly. If someone knows of a vendor offering those 95mm variators for gy6, please share it as this scoot will most likely need one.

That is a big part of my problem. There is only 1 place in Lansing Michigan that does performance work on mopeds and there the ones that told me my scooter was normal sounding like a popcorn machine. 35.00 for a oil change 100.00 for a cdi and coil. Oh yeah, if I change my own oil it voids my 1 year engine only warranty.
If there was another place I could take it to and pay I would. So I have to do it all myself through trial and error. Doing the best I can with the limited knowledge that I have.

There is only 1 place in Lansing Michigan that does performance work on mopeds Then sir, you have a big opportunity available to you. What you do with that opportunity is your choice. I would strongly suggest that you start by reading the Admins build @ 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/6365/project-taotao-stroke-experiences-upgradesIt is a long thread but has lots of well documented testing. It is best read in small doses until you understand the info and testing procedures. then spend some time in the library section fwiw...the admin of a site sets the tone for that site. here on this site, I have seen some excellent information shared by what appears to be quite a few very experienced people. IF you decide to learn everything you can and go into competition against that shop, align yourself with some distributors that have a wholesale department that can truly offer you good products at fair wholesale cost and back you up when not if there is a problem. btw.. don't expect a wholesaler to offer you their best pricing on parts for your scooter up front-- use caution on choosing your wholesaler Also do not forget that you have a wealth of knowledge on this forum backing you up.

after looking at the carburetor I can plainly see that the shear screws on the bottom of the carb are still in place. Another lie from those people. I also noticed that there is gas coming from the float bowl drain hose? what causes that?

There is a screw in the end of the drain hose that is the valve to drain the bowl. It may be loose. Just take a standard screwdriver and tighten it a bit to see if that stops the fuel coming out of the drain hose.
