Hello all, and happy new year So I get back to tinkering with my Jog today and replaced the clutch with a scrappy dog 2-shoe, because my stock yamaha one is worn, glazed, and vibrates now... So my issue is... ...With the OEM 2-shoe clutch and 1500 grab springs this would LOOP off the line if you weren't careful. Now with the scrappy dog 2-shoe in there it runs great, no more vibrations n such... But the launch went to $h!^ now, even with 2k grabs, I want my Harley sleepin launch and dangerous wheelies back!! I was looking at it, thinking if I sand the shoes down a little bit it may give me some more clearance... I also heard of people drilling thier clutch for a better launch?? Can anyone help me get this clutch kickin??

I would say its about 1-2mm or so between the friction material and the bell. As before it was about maybe 3-4mm

The service manual for a 90 Jog says shoes should be 4.0mm, service limit 2.5mm, 105mm ID bell. 91 Jog shows a 2 shoes clutch as well, 105mm bell as well, but 2.5mm shoe thickness with a 2.0mm service limit.
Make sure the issue isn't where the belt rides at idle first. Maybe the extra clearance before was letting the CVT get away with more than it should?

Im pretty sure its the clutch.. I only had the problem once I replaced my clutch with a scrappy unit. Today I did drill some holes in the shoes as per the link you left me. I drilled one hole in each shoe thus far (11/32). It wheelies good like I was before except Im using 2k grab springs instead of the 1.5k grabs I usually running with the Oem clutch. Think I will do sone more drilling tomorrow but smaller holes this time... I want to step back down ti 1.5k grab springs like before

I drilled soo many hole in this thing and its sstill no good. I think its made out of too heavy a metal or something. Maybe I got a dud from scrappy dog, maybe its just a crappy dog part. Whatever the situation may be... New expensive high quality OEM yamaha clutch is coming so I can continue to be the PocketChange Scooter Clubs wheelie beast.

Stock chinese 2 shoe clutch assemblies are meant to be heavy duty and engage early for fuel mileage and driveablity, and not do wheelies (not sure what the "crappy dog part" refers to, "dud". Have you considered upgrading your clutch and bell to a performance 3 shoe unit?

Yea, they dont fit w/o boring out the CVT cover. Some are even way too big altogether. I was using a Polini 3 shoe for awhile that was adjustable, but that thing was finnicky with temperature changes ie it would grab at lower rpm once it got hot.. My OEM 2shoe with scrappy dog's 1.5k clutch springs has been my winning set-up for some time now. So once my OEM clutch wore out I went for a scrappy dog and could not achieve the same results I did with an OEM unit.. Lightening the shoes and 2k grab springs allowed me to do wheelies while its cold with the scrappy but it cant take the heat like the OEM. I am sorry if this message gets you down but I stand behind my comment based on my experience. I did not mean to offend you, just an honest customer review... Furthermore, I am sure we can both agree that the scrappy dog two shoe cant compare to an OEM Yamaha unit in terms of quality.
