So I ended up using the tires off of the free scooter.. I noticed after I put them on there was a slight vibration, especially when hitting the brakes. I figured the vibration was probably just a warped brake disk and it would be a whole hell of a lot better than cracked bald tires.
It ran fine like that for a while. I probably got in close to 300 miles like that. But last night after running to the corner store for a pack of smokes, I noticed a problem on the way back.
From a dead stop, it takes off fine up to about 5mph, then the RPMS go way down, almost bogging out the engine, and the RPMS stay down until I slowly pick up speed.
When I pulled into the driveway, I noticed a ringing sound from the back end of the transmission. This afternoon I opened it up and my CVT fan has exploded again, this time it shredded the belt up pretty bad. I went ahead and pulled everything out so I could clean up the mess from the shredded belt.
When I pulled the CVT, I noticed the ramp plate was even more difficult to remove than last time. Out of curiosity I checked out the ramp plate on the free scooter I got, and it slides on much easier. My old ramp plate was just as tight when I checked it against the free scooter. So I ended up swapping out the ramp plates.
I cleaned everything out and put on my old belt that I kept as a spare. I also used the CVT fan from the free scooter. After everything was put back together I did a test run to see if all that fixed the issue.
It didn't seem to make much difference. I think there might be a problem with the clutch.
What do you guys think?
I'll pull it apart and work on it some more in the morning.
