You're in the right place to get help! I have a similar issue on my scoot that I've been ignoring for too long now. I haven't done the repair yet but it could be as simple as removing the plastics on the front end to get to the nut and tighten it. It could be something a little more involved but you'll need to get in there to see regardless. Tons of good knowledgable folks here to help out with stuff like this! Good luck and happy scooterin!

Btw I only feel the play on mine when applying the front brakes heavily. If it's 'pulsing' while rolling it might point to another issue like unbalanced tire or something...

I'll bet its your headset. It's similar to the old school goose neck style handlebar and fork on old bmx bikes. The but came loose which allows play in your steer tune. You need to remove the front plastics and get a couple of wrenches on the bearing race and lock not. Once you get the race snug then tighten the lock not against the bearing race to keep it from coming loose again

Not trying to insult your intelligence, but have you checked that your tire is properly inflated? These scooter tires can go flat and not look flat cause the side walls are pretty stiff.

nice info, but not the info i was expecting, i want to find out how to take the front panel off,so i can tighten the nut......... It's usually just a matter of locating the screws that hold the panel on and removing them... I guess if we knew exactly what scoot it was maybe someone could put up a pic with arrows pointing to the screws that say "remove these". What kind of scooter is it?

My neighbor came up with a really quick way to remove the plastics. He layed it down at about 30mph the night before last. I don't recommend it but it is effective.

A loose steering head would not make a pulsing effect. It's either the brake disc is warped, the rim is bent, the wheel is horribly out of balance or you have a tire that is flawed (Not round). If it's a balancing issue, they make a product called "Dyna Beads" you put inside the tire. www.innovativebalancing.com/index.php

what i noticed yesterday while sitting on the scoot and having hands on handlebars while pushing forward noticed there was play in the steering, thats why i figured it was this nut, while riding i get this up and back motion in both arms while holding onto the handlebars..

If your scooter looks like the one below, then to get the front piece off you have to remove the little visor piece above the front wheel, then remove the big screw just under the headlights, and then remove the two screws above left and above right of the glove box. Then you pull down on the front panel to unlock the tabs and it will pop off. Disconnect the headlight plug and set it aside.
