Ok.. I bought a 2013 50cc TaoTao VIP yesterday with 250 miles on it for $150... He had bought it new about 8 months ago for his son & it quit starting shortly after purchase.. You turn the key on & nothing happens.. Battery is new and fully charged & hooked to jumper.. No lights come on, no gauges move, no starter power.. It seems to be grounded good.. I have the fuse by the battery wired direct for right now. The only plug I see thats not plugged in is under the battery box.. Its a small plug with I thing a green & white wire going to it but I see no place for it to plug in.. What am I missing? I don't know where to start on diagnostics.. Help please.

You need to see if you have power getting to the ignition switch and power coming out of it when it's in the run position. Often the power wire will be red and the switched power wire will be red with a white stripe, but not always.

Check connectors under seat bucket , ive had connectors pop apart there in the past. A test light or meter is your best bet if nothing obvious is found. Also sometimes inproperly ran wiring can get severed in handlebar area. As well as others. Also verify chassis is grounded as well as engine.& once again 90gtvert & i reply at the same time. Lol.

never bypass that fuse, it doesn't take much to fry the harness and they are no fun to replace. the ignition switch most likely is the culprit like 90gt said. you could jump the two large nuts on top of the solenoid to see if the starter spins. it won't start that way but you will know if you have some kind of power.
