Guys I need some help. I'm planning to reinstall my exhaust tomorrow and have an exhaust crush gasket to fit during the procedure. I have seen them with the split on the side and this seems simple enough to fit but the one I have has the split on the top or bottom depending on your view. My question is which side should the split go? Next to the engine? Or next to the exhaust? I have Google it but can't find any answers.

I don't think it much matters but I could be wrong... Actually, i thought I was wrong once- turns out I was mistaken- I was actually right!

I say put the split toward the engine. That way it's up inside the recessed area. Might make a difference.

Katastroff I only have the ring gaskets but I will look into getting some of those.
Do you find it gives a better seal?
Scooterpimp I usually just see what happens but I'm trying to be a little more sensible this time.

Ok to close this thread I fitted the ring gasket with the split towards the engine and applied sealant to the exhaust face, it seems to have created a good seal. I have seen no signs of the leak after about 50 miles riding. I'll keep an eye on it and post back if it changes.
