Does anyone know of a cheap way to press off the gear that has to be replaced? I can go to a shop to do it, but I'm wondering if there is a cheaper way? Any help would be helpful.

I have only done it with a press I don't know if a gear puller would work to push it out, don't hammer it what ever you do the end will flare out for sure.

So you were able to you this to get it back on as well? I bought this to take it off. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002O16UHA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Thought maybe I might be able to use it to press it back on since the gear "pin" that it goes on to has the little point on the both ends of the rod. If that makes sense? I almost bought this on craigslist www.harborfreight.com/12-ton-shop-press-33497.html for $80 new in the box. But my scooter budget is starting to dwindle... lol Dont really know when I would need it again. trying to do this on a budget since the scoot is supposed to be saving me money on parking. But if that doesnt work I might get what you suggested since I have a 4X4.

i have used a flywheel puller, the kind with 2 legs on it. i put impact gun on and it pushes the gear out and also pushes the gear back on. make sure you go slow when pressing back on and ensure it is not going in crooked.

Update! I ended up buying a anchor press for the gear set and it did the job had to put some muscle on it though.... But frankly not impressed with the gear change. I maybe got 1-2 mph out of it and lost SO MUCH LOW END SPEED!!!!! I'm pretty bummed out about it. Im still working on the tuning Im up to a 90 jet but the BBK I bought from starrider I dont believe came with a 20mm carb. Will having a 20mm carb really make a big difference? Running out of thing to improve on. Will buying a NCY super tranny kit really improve top end from what I'm already running. Everything I have done to it is on my description. Dont really know where to go from here... Just want to get WOT to 45-47 and cruise at 40. Any more help will be greatly appreciated!

This is why we love two strokes- haha j/k j/k. You may be able to regain some low end speed with CVT tuning. It could be as simple as going with lighter roller weights to maybe adding some shims to the drive boss to shaving the faces of the vari... I've done all these things to regain low end torque lost on a 2t by adding an expansion chamber pipe... 49ccscoot.proboards.com/board/42/transmission-tech

I sold my Yamaha banshee to help procure my scooter. Time will tell if it was the best decision but I work in an office setting and didn't want to go to work smelling like a weed eater. Lol. But back to the question at hand I ave 5g rollers in there now and have used 4 grams the problem I have is a 1.5 contra spring which I think is too much resistance against the 4 or 5 gram rollers. I'm going to put the original back pulley and clutch back on and see if that will and keep the DHL variator up front with the 5 gram rollers. Any reason why this might not work?

What was the teeth count you took out. That ratio you installed would worked good with the 3.50x10 tires but you have the taller 12" tire and wheels. My guess 15/51 would be best what is your weight? Myself I like to find 16/50. w

I have a 30ton press at work, I will gladly press them for free, just pay for shipping to and from. Maybe this helps? PM me for info.

I weigh 195. Will that be more of a taller gear? And will it make my lower end suffer that much more? Just curious this gearing stuff is sorta tricky

You may not have enough hp for the gear ratio. Maybe 1500 spring to much. Have you tried advancing the timing?

Does the freezer/oven trick work when pressing gears?
