I adjusted the one on my kymco by first having it give too much oil(pulling the cable/lever further). My exhaust would get an oil spot on it. I kept backing my adjustment off slowly until I stopped seeing an oil spot. If your exhaust stinger doesn't point near anything that oil could get on this may not work for you. Basically you need to know if oil is coming out the exhaust If it is, back the oil off a bit, clean the exhaust and check again after a few days of long ridings.
That being said many pumps have a mark and a arrow/pointer to line up for stock oil ratios.

Trash that joker and go pre-mix. its easier and safer that way!

I haven't had an issue with the one on my kymco. I'd imagine that if you don't let the tank/pump run dry that it should last a long time. I hear of lots of people on here swapping to premix just so they know their oil ratio and cuz premix can't fail an trash your motor. The way I see it, the pumps are dependable or the later 2Ts would come as premix only. Now if your doing extreme mods to the motor to get every last drop of power out then you might be pushing what the pump can supply then premix is the way to go.
