The vent on the valve cover is the crankcase vent, it "should" connect to an oil separator whitch should draw ported vacuum from the air intake before the carb. I have no ground on the valve cover, mine is on the starter, that's the only thing that grounds through the engine. Everything else has a ground wire.

This thing is a bastard! I replaced the boot and the spark plug and now no spark?! I have discovered there is gas in the carb but it is not going anywhere from there?

The wire that goes to your starter is actually the hot wire. You need a good ground from the engine (ideally the bolt closest to the sparkplug) to the frame (ideally as close as possible to where your coil is bolted to the frame).

That wire pictures earlier that was cut has a green and I believe a black wire next to it...?

Probobly, but seing the wiring on this thing, i would run a brand new 12 or 10 gauge wire from engine to frame.

Okay. Man this thing is a mess. My fathers girlfriend has a 2008 Jm star 150cc with only 100 miles on it. She said I could have it for 300, what is the body size difference between a 50 and 150? Just wondering if I should just do that and say screw this thing...now that's have no spark I am lost again.

I had no idea about what a CVT was. To make it short, i had very little knowledge about scooters mecanics. With all the knowledge i have found here and elsewhere on the net (but its was mostly here) i can dismantle a scooter and put it back up and it will run. I say dont give up on it. These little 4t are pretty simple once you get them in your head. But if you feel that's its behond you to fix it, go ahead and get the 150 and keep the 50 as a learning scoot.

Okay katastroff! I'll stick it out! So my next move is the grounding wire. And I'll go from there

If it was me, I would grab that 150 and sell this $50 monstrosity/contraption to someone else for $100 as "A great project scooter!" The reason I say that is because I think it's better for you to slowly learn on a good working scooter as things will inevitably go wrong. As soon as I saw the pics of that wiring I knew that it was gonna be a nightmare for you. I repaired many many scooters over the years but a few I actually turned down because they had wiring that had been hacked by some hack and I don't have the time or the patience for that sh*t. Also, a 150cc is much faster and more fun cause instead of people passing you all the time you will be passing them.

No, there are two, hot and ground: drive.google.com/file/d/0B6ZziB1FlvgmY2Zhd0lDcFpYeDA/view?usp=sharing

Would the ground wire be the reason I am getting no spark? Also, the fuel not moving from the carb is caused by what? When I push the electric start nothing at all happens--no noise at all.
Fox--is $300 a good price on a JMSTAR 150 with only 100 miles that has been stored inside and only owned by one owner?

Also--Should there be another vacuum line connected to the lower diaphragm on the carburetor?

Sounds like a good deal to me as long as it's not wrecked with bent forks and smashed in front plastics. Take a good battery with you. Hook it up and test all the electrical. Make sure the starter cranks, the horn, blinkers etc... all work. Then work the kick lever slow with your hand to feel for compression. On a 50cc there is no vacuum lines connected to the carb anywhere. You should have one vac line running from the intake elbow to the fuel valve. Then you should have a fuel line running from the fuel valve to the carburetor with a filter in between.

Take it easy or you're gonna break the kick starter. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/6017/kick-starter-basicsI think the first thing you need to do is to get the starter working. Then once you can crank the engine you can test for spark a lot easier. When you cleaned the carb, did you remove the low speed (idle) jet and confirm that it was cleaned out? It is imperative that it is clear for the scooter to start. It has a very tiny hole running through it's entire length that clogs when a scooter is left sitting. A bristle from a wire brush and some carb spray work well.
