I apollogize scoot commun's. Havent been on the boards in a while. Finally sunny here. Anyway opened up the cvt to look for a restricted washer (case engine). No washer. But my belt has so much play in it. That I can squeeze it together in the middle. That's not right is it? Would that be the reason for such a low top end?

It could be a factor in poor performance. The question now is why is there so much slack in the belt. If the belt is sitting near the outside of the rear pulley and there's a lot of slack then it's probably either the wrong belt or somehow your belt has stretched. If the belt is not riding where it should be, low in the front and high in the rear, perhaps you have a very weak contra spring or some other malfunction in one of the pulleys.
EDIT : you've added a pic since I started this reply. What is the belt length you're using? Looks too long. Nearest I can tell it may say 788 17 28, which is standard or near the size of many Minarellis and clones. The Bando looks different than any of the one's I've used. All of mine have a green patch as well as some yellow writing. Was this one of the cheap belts available straight straight from China by any chance? I have heard some of them are knockoffs and may not always match correct specs.

i must say that is the cleanest cvt area ive ever seen in a long time.lol. is the scooter new? the belt kinda has those brand new belt kinks to it and if its a new belt just installed its normal to look like that till it gets spun around some

1993 yamaha 50cc jog Upgraded to 90cc. New engine. Old 50cc engine top speed was about 55mph. 90cc out the box topped out at maybe 30mph. Which led me to checking the cvt for restriction. Belt says bando. 90tvert your probably right, it's a knock off from china. My 50cc belt was so tight I usually had to pry it back on. Now I can almost pull the belt over the pulley. What size belt do I need for a stock 90cc engine?

I use 788 17 28 Bandos on my long and short case engines with standard sized pulleys. They have markings like this...

Nice Pics. And very nice job updating so we can post pics....I'm on it. Should give me the power I was anticipating from a 90cc. That belt must have been just slipping around in there. One question. I want to put in a 21mm dellorto with oil injection. Do you know where to get a real dellorto For a decent price? no more knock offs! Also it's a 90cc long case. Will my old 50cc belt fit? Still have that boxed up somewhere...

Stock belt should be close I think. Mine are Chinese clones so my stock belts on 2 Tritons were Bando 788 17 28 and the short case Keeawy was a 792 16.6 Misuboshi, but I always use 788 17 28s on it too.
treatland.tv is a good seller that carries DellOrto carbs and accessories. They also do 10-15% off sales somewhat regularly and free shipping on larger orders so it may be worth it to wait for one. Whenever I get an email about a sale there I post it in the Coupons section.

Couldn't wait..90tvert...Bando Kevlar belt and 21mm dellorto on the way. Didn't sound like there was a vacuum port from what the reviews said... So I don't know what I'm gonna do..maybe throw the performance intake back on with the two ports and just plug one of them. Thank you again.

New belt came. Same issues. Too long. Too much slack. Doesn't make sense. Do I need a bigger variator set up than stock? Is the engine defected? I can easily see that it needs to be a half inch or more shorter to be tight On the pulleys.

What is is like if the belt is sitting at the outside of the rear pulley. In the pic it looks like the pulley is open some in the rear. Perhaps a weak contra spring is partially to blame for not pushing the rear pulley closed and pushing the belt out.
You could also measure the distance between the shafts the pulleys ride on, center to center of each shaft. I can measure one of mine to see if they're different.

Are there any shim washers on the variator side? If so remove them and try it. If not, measure the length of your variator sleeve in mm's and Brent or somebody can tell you if yours is longer than normal.
That's the only thing I can think of that would add slack to the belt other than a mis-labeled belt.

Mine are about 10 13/16" apart on a long case that uses 788 17 28 belts with standard pulleys. Tape is positioned so the 1" mark is centered on the front shaft.
