bought this little scoot for my gdaughter for 100 bucks and has no owners manual and the other owner bought it at a yardsale. it runs but I have no idea of how the gas and oil are mixed . it appears to have reservours for the oil and a separate gas tank. the prev owner had mixed 2 cyc oil in the gas like a weedeater would use. it runs good and all functions are normal but I know this isn't the right way to do it I just need it to be ok for her to play with in the neighborhood for 2 weeks and then it will be just a toy for me occasionally to ride thru our little college town. any thought would be greatly appreciated. the key switch was removed and cranks with a screwdriver in the slot but otherwise stops and drives good and the tires/ brakes and electrical seem ok be just fine, glad I found this forum and hope to hear from you. think my wife is more excited than me for this toy

You should be able to just keep the oil reservoir full if all is working properly. The problem is with the PO adding oil to the fuel you don't know if the oil injection system is working. You could try a bleeding procedure in the link below or you could pull the hose off from the injection where it goes into the carb and see if any oil comes out when the scooter is running. Don't run it long since you don't know how much pre-mix it has. Some people just add oil because they don't think the injector is good enough, like a cap full or something. Manuals for the 1E40QMB or the Vento scoots here may be of interest to you : www.49ccscoot.com/manuals/manuals.html

thanks guys, after reading several post of engine damage due to oiler not working or stopping up I tend to think doing a premix in the gas is more viable, your thoughts please

For what your using it for I'd go premix. Its usually not my thing honestly. Due to an old brain injury I would make a mistake premixing or forget too eventually. So I'm an oil pump guy. I've used them myself never had a problem. But I also like to swap them out after a couple years. I think they tend to get a bad wrap.

I'm a pre-mix fan so I won't argue if someone wants to convert. It's definitely not a big deal riding around the neighborhood to pre-mix, because you'll prob be filling up at home I'm guessing. If you travel a lot and fill up at the pump more, it's easier to keep injection. I've never had one of my pumps fail, but I have used pre-mix on everything of mine for years now. I have seen them fail and ruin cylinders. I don't mind pre-mixing even at the pump, and I've never forgotten it, so it makes me feel more safe that I won't ever have to worry about an oil pump failing and ruining a cylinder kit or worse. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/564/remove-oil-injection-system
