I had a Question asked to me I thought was not right but I answer any way I had a person ask me if I could help him change his oil ?? the sad part is I thought he meant he put regular oil in the 2 stroke oil container he said no he just wanted to change the motor oil in the engine (it's a 2 stroke)it only took about an hour of explaining that their is no oil in the motor of a 2 stroke and he just could not get a grasp how the thing ran with out any oil in the motor and not blowing up just some people do not need any tools
If you have any other stories like this I would like to hear them just to make sure that I don't get all the dumb ones lol

some 2 stroke engines do have oil sumps and require oil changes, although im not sure any of the 2t scoots do.

I know a kid that was convinced that a tall skinny glass held more than a short fat glass even after someone showed him they held the exact same amount. Wait! That kid was me. LOL
Seriously, tell him that a 2 stroke is the same as a model airplane/car engine. That the oil is mixed with the gas and lubes the bearings and piston but the oil gets burned with the gas as well so that's why they smoke.
If he has a 2 stroke motorcycle with a manual transmission then there is oil to change but that's separate from the combustion process.

A friend of mine manages an auto parts store. He was here and we were talking about this sort of stuff. He called his store and got an employee to go look for a can of compression. Told her this engine he was checking out was low on compression and there should be cans there to put compression back into the engine. She went to look for it. She had worked there for a couple of years and moved above entry level. Just remember this when you talk to people at a parts counter. Some are really bright and very good at helping though.
Worst I've ever heard is a guy was sent to the store for a sky hook. He was told that it was a special hook with a rope. You throw it up into the air and it will grab on to air and can be used to help hoist things up. He said the people in the stores all laughed at him. The canned compression I can kinda understand, but thinking you'll hook into air to lift things...
On a more scooter related note, when I first got a scooter I was told on a forum that there were no main jets for the stock carbs on 1E40QMB engines. The only way to upjet (and have spares) was to buy jets from Yamaha and drill them. I didn't know better at that time, assumed the people on the forum were experts.
One of my favorites that happens somewhat regularly is explaining in great detail via video, pics, timing specs, etc... that performance CDIs are not the power makers they are advertised to be in most cases. Then the person I tell will contact me later and say now their scooter is harder to start or doesn't run right or isn't faster with the new CDI and what can they do to fix it. Not all aftermarket CDIs are bad and there is power to be found in ignition timing, but if you believe advertising in many cases you'll be disappointed.

2 stroke motorcycles do require oil in the cases and need changes but is for the clutch and transmission separated from the combustion area.So that ones not such a stretch. But I can't get my head around having oil in the sump with the downward compression a 2t has.

Begs the question does a cruiseship have a point where it "comes on the pipe"?

yea all true but scooter 2 strokes I have dealt with don't require the engine oil to be changed It is like one of my old bosses told me to get a bolt stretcher so I handed him some all thread an some nuts or when I was in the airforce ask noob to go to the store and get some new flight line (flightline is the landing strip)
