TaoTao VIP 49cc stock 7000 miles vavles adjusted. No leaks tried new carb, floats good, grounds cleaned. Hit the brakes half way aggressive it dies. Not sure what's wrong.

Does it matter if you just use the front or rear brake?

I wonder if there is a wire that is grounding under hard braking. After 7000 miles there is a chance that a wire has worn through the insulation.

Never thought about it. I'll have to check. Most of the time I used rear then front. I'll check that.

I wonder if he has a bad spring on the clutch plate in the tork drive unit bogging the motor down till the engine stops then allowing it and bell to separate just a thought

This has happened to me about three times over the years and its always and I mean always been a broken clutch shoe. When it happened to me it was a rough idle and no matter how low of an idle I adjusted it to as soon as I let off the brakes id start to roll away. Id say its worth a shot to open the cvt cover and remove the clutch and inspect it once you remove the one nut on place the bell comes off and you can see the clutch shoes to inspect.

I tried using just the rear then front brake still dies with either one. The hole cvt check out. The belt was a 699x18x28 they normally have 699x18x30. I installed a 699x18x30 no different. My step is change the float height a little.

Is scoot stalling when you come to a stop? Or when braking/slowing down? Is it a sputter out or a i didn't push in my clutch on manual trans coming to a stop sign stall? Just curious , had a weird eng stall issue on a scoot with worn/flatspotted rollers they would get stuck in variator ramps at times & upon sudden stops engine would shut off like trying to stop a manual trans vehicle without pushing in clutch while in gear , due to belt having tension on it, then they would pop back in place. Found this on 2 different
scoots in the past. Just tossin some ideas out there...

Coming to a stop. Like not pushing the clutch in.
