Yes. I fell in love with my V65! Everyone asks me how fast I've had it.. I always tell them 55 of course! I'm in my 40's and don't plan on killing myself anytime soon. The V45 and V65 both had issues with their factory timing chain tensioners. It's almost a given to go ahead and replace them if you ever buy one and it hasn't been done.
Going out to the scoot to tear it down!!!! Bear with me guys.. I'm going to start a pic posting frenzy!

Actually, I'll post the pics over in my Transformers Bumblebee thread in the builds section since I guess this is going to end up being part of my build with the upgrades.
I did break down at least the cover to see if there were any visible cracks in the cylinder casing and head but didn't see anything obvious so I hate to eat my own words... Maybe it is an overly rich condition (sticks head in the dirt so no one can see me).
Dumb question though. Could a weak (or really cold) spark plug be causing all my issues? I don't have another one, and actually tried to go ahead and pick up an Iridium 7544 but absolutely no one carries them around here so I ordered one online. I did try the stock spark plug wire/coil and an aftermarket racing wire/coil with the same effects.

What is the current plug? NGK CR7HS is a standard plug for these. Too cold and it could be fouling.

In your option 90GTVert, what would be causing this issue I'm experiencing if the plug turns out okay, and the carb is set right? I've got a new powerlink belt and 5 gram sliders coming and also have inspected the variator and it looks good, and also I've inspected the clutch springs (good and tight), bell housing, torque spring (requires some pretty good pressure to open the pulleys, and everything seems good. I've watched your video on the clutch and I've not taken mine apart yet, execpt just removing the bell and pulling it out to inspect it.

I think you need a new carburetor. Have you tried running it with no air box at all?
You can also try raising the needle clip to lean it out some.

That plug should work fine. Maybe the particular one has an issue, but it's a common plug for this app.
When you're seeing that the plug is fouling, don't look to the CVT for answers. You need to determine if it's fuel or oil and why there's an excess of fuel or oil or why fuel present or why fuel is not being burned. Look to oil control (rings, valve seals) and fuel supply and ignition. If there's enough oil to see on the plug it should be smoking. If it's so rich that it's fouling and running poorly most likely it will be sputtering.

Thanks!
We'll I've installed the BBK, NGK Iridium plug, the gates belt, 5g sliders, put a #90 jet in the carb, new oil, performance CDI, removed the pair system and I've completely redone my wiring harness and I think all the electrical gremlins are gone! I then fired her up. I have my valves set to .003 for both. I had to adjust my idle a bit.
It's raining outside so I've not had a chance to take it down the road, but I let it warm up, then blipped the throttle. It revved up then as it was going down, it died. Started it again. Checked everything, then blipped the throttle and it died again. I can bring the throttle up to about 4k or so and it seems to be fine, but if I give it more than that it falls on it's face. Gradual throttle seems okay up to a point around 4k or maybe a little bit more.
Do I need to go up a main jet? It seems to idle somewhat fine. Idle RPM's are not as steady as it was with the factory head and cylinder. I swapped out the performance CDI back with my original CDI and seems to do the same thing.
When I set TDC, I noticed that the 'T' mark was not exactly aligned with the casing bit. If you are looking at the the timing marks, the 'T' mark is slightly clockwise of the casing bit (point on the casing you line the 'T' mark to. I can get a pic tomorrow and post it, but I thought it was a bit strange. Am I off a tooth?

I decided to go ahead and double check my timing and get some pics. I may be alright on timing. I thought I might have been a tooth off, but this is actually pretty close. Still wondering why it just dies from giving it WOT fast....

Doesn't look far enough off to be a tooth off to me. You could try and find out if it will get closer, but I kinda doubt it.
Forget RPM and focus on throttle position if you suspect it's the carb. You should find that a certain throttle position is where it tries to die or starts acting up if it's the carb. Find a simple way to mark your throttle housing and grip so you can see 1/4 1/2 3/4 and WOT easily. Just for temp use cutting thin little stickers would work without leaving any permanent marks.

I'll try that today. Getting ready to watch your carb and cvt tuning video again. Some other things I forgot to mention was that I have my diaphragm needle c-clip set to center position, and I have the A9 cam installed. I really appreciate the help from you and the others. I've learned so much about these scooters thanks to you guys! It's a sunny day today with no rain so I'm going to try to take this scooter down the road also and see how it does. It's been a little colder than normal, but today is supposed to be in the 60's..

Gotta love clear fuel lines! I think I found the source of my problem and it's probably been the problem the whole time.
I recently replaced my fuel and vacuum lines with clear blue lines and just now noticed this!
The vacuum line running from the diaphragm pump to the intake port is the vertical line from top to bottom. If you look at the line right below the fuel line that goes left to right, you'll see what appears to be fuel being sucked into the intake. It's ever so slight, but apparently enough to cause serious bogging issues, especially when I blip the throttle.
As a test, I disconnected the vacuum line from the intake and put a cap on that port. It fired right up, and now when I blip the throttle to WOT she revs straight up fast and doesn't bog out at all.
So looks like that was my problem from the start. I never realized it since I had the wonderful black OEM chinese crap vacuum line on it.
Time to order a new pump!
Anyone that is experiencing bogging, hesitation, overly rich conditions that you just can't seem to figure out, I highly recommend buying some clear fuel line so you can see what is going on...

Wow.. Just Wow.. I wish I had another fuel pump on hand.
I let it run a bit with the vacuum line on and took it down the road. Didn't even get over 10 mph. Same exact problem and the reason why I started this thread. My little 8 year old neighbor helper said he could run faster than I was going. I told him he could probably walk faster.
I then took the vacuum line out and capped the intake port and took it down the road. HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!! It felt like someone had put a jet engine in the scooter!!!! I was up to about 30 mph in what I thought was about 100 ft of distance, then the motor died cause the vacuum wasn't allowing gas to enter the carb. I connected the vacuum line back up and got it started and rode back to the house going about 5-10 mph.

And another WOW! I bypassed the fuel pump/diaphragm and ran line directly from the tank to the carb so I can tune it.
It's a bit weird, but I'm running #90 main jets, have the needle with the clip set to the leanest, and have the snorkel removed from the airbox. If I don't remove the snorkel, I get hesitation while riding. With off, I get great throttle response, and can just about smoke the tires. Seems like I may need to either go down a jet size or so, or go ahead and remove the airbox and get an aftermarket air filter. Almost seems like it's still a bit rich.. weird..
I did have to change out the 5 gram sliders. Those were too light and at WOT I was at 10k rpm while trying to get a top speed. I changed those out to the 8 gram rollers that came with the BBK and it's much much better. Running at around 8k rpm while accelerating WOT.
I rode it up my street and with the 8 gram rollers in, I reached 40 mph pretty darn quick, and that was going up a slight hill. I actually like the way the 8 gram rollers feel vs the 5 gram sliders. Maybe I'm not as fat as I thought I was. Time to buy some 8 gram sliders now!
I did notice that it sounds like I may need to do another valve adjustment. Now that the engine is good and warmed up, the valves are ticking quite a bit more. I set both of them to .003 when I put the BBK in..
I'll see if I can get my wife to take a video of me riding to show you guys. I'm just so excited I got this thing going.. and going strong!
