May I suggest something?
Just get a 150cc engine and put that in. At least you still have your scooter.
I know it won't be the same but at some point when you're past this grief you might try again....with a GOOD piston.

that pic is the scooter in my avatar. replacing the engine would make it number 3. original engine blew from a bad oil pump chain, the current engine went a few times. i can't afford to throw more money at it, i ride long distances and put on a lot of miles, i have gone for 100 miles rides, the chinese engines can't handle the long distance and the hills even with no red line or speeding. i will eventually get one made in taiwan or a used honda helix. i have someone taking the body with a lot of the parts being taken off first.

Ok. THAT was one BEAUTIFUL scooter imo.
I think if it were mine, I would have fitted an old Yamaha 175cc or 250cc two stroke engine in it from an old enduro. THOSE motors were bullet proof. and with just a little work could make 25 - 30 hp.

That sucks to hear about this. I enjoyed lurking your build thread! It made me want a GY6 150 scoot and I still do! Dont let this get you down its just an engine man, dont let that ruin your whole hobby that you love. High performance stuff in general comes with trials and tribulations. When we jump these hurdles we learn more about ourselves as people and as builders/tuners.

I'm on the lookout for the same scooter now. I think I'm going to get a Propel Daytona 150 just for the fun of it.
I just like the way it looks. Plus I dont have a 150 right now.

The TaoTao Evo 150 is identical and may be easier to find... and for the record- these plastics also fit perfectly on the Baccio VX50 Hunter style!

the scooter is gone, all that remains is the rims and tires. the 2015 daytona looks different but is pretty sharp, if you call propel they may still have a few of the 2013 left, they were going for $799 to get rid of the stock. i couldn't see putting a 3rd engine into it, the GY6 engines cannot handle daily long rides, 25 miles or even 30 sure but 100 miles no way. when i first got the scooter new the belt broke after 2 weeks and 200 miles, the engine died a short time later and i had to replace the crank and top end. i am going this week to look at a honda aero 80cc 2 stroke, much less maintenance and they can handle anything you throw at them, i could easily go on a 100 mile ride and make it back home with no issues. the daytona body was sold complete and the new owner put an engine in it but is having troubles keeping it running, i have to put a new carb on it for him. i sold the blown engine, the guy wants the CVT parts and electrical parts, there are chunks of metal floating around in it and the taiwan made forged connecting rod is bent.

guy that bought the body to my scooter put in a used 150cc engine but no plastic cooling shroud. i was just notified that he overheated and blew the engine. funny thing is i gave him the shroud for it.

Some people think they know more than the people that designed these things. There was a scooter dealer in Glendale, Ca. called Scootermundo that went out of business a while back. The owner/proprietor would remove the shrouds on all the scooters he sold to "make them run cooler" When I told him it wasn't good he said that the Mfg. told him to do it.

i warned him it would overheat and told him he needed to install the shroud. he is trying to get $1,600 for it, a stock 2015 Daytona is less than that at some dealers. the guy that bought my engine is trying to get it to go back together with the bent connecting rod. i sold it to him for the clutch, CVT cover and final drive gears. i got a call asking me why he couldn't get the top end to go all the way on. i asked if he replaced the crank and he said no so i said well there's your reason right there. he took pictures and you can see a lot of metal pieces that came out of the inside of the engine. he even did a fancy paint job on it.

I don't know what the infatuation is with removing the fan and shrouds on these air cooled scoots, but it's not uncommon. I know 2strokd and prob others do it for drag racing events to save the drag of the fan since it'll only run 1/8 mile, but otherwise it's a terrible idea. Even doing it for drag racing I'd imagine you better have a way to monitor CHT.
