Finally have some time to take the head out and check everything.
Ok.. This is a really, really, really stupid question and rhetorical but I have to ask. I'm planning on checking where true TDC is when I pull the head so I can mark my flywheel. Just to make absolutely sure... The cam lobes should be both facing down towards the head when the piston is at it's maximum travel (or maximum compression)... right?

Found the issue... Whadayaknow. Stupid me apparently somehow cross-threaded the spark plug back in. Apparently sometime when I was pulling it to check to see if I was running rich or lean. Makes sense now why it would get a bit louder when the engine heated up. After I removed the spark plug, I noticed shavings around the spark plug hole and realized the spark plug was not coming out perpendicular to the surface of the plug hole. Edited for this: I found out where my true TDC is. Apparently where I had it before. TDC is actually just before the 'T' line, but a little left of the 'T' letter. Now that I know that for sure, it should be a bit easier to understand... 2 questions: 1. Can I use my stock head temporarily or will that create too much compression? I noticed the head that came with my BBK has a chamfer that is 50mm going inward to where the valve heads are, and the stock head does not. 2. If I get a big valve head, will my 18mm carb be okay to use, or would I need to upgrade that as well?

I'm way too antsy to wait for a response so I went ahead and ordered the big valve head from Scooters To Go.
I'd still like to know the answer to the questions above though...
Thanks for all the help!

It's been done, but I think it's really pushing it to use a stock head with anything larger than 72cc kits. Even then it could be too much compression, depending on variables like the dome configuration, deck height, and so on. 2. As you already know, it will work. Sorry I'm so late. I was getting ready for and riding around at a car show last weekend and a bit before so I didn't read all posts.
