How often do CDI's go out? Rare?
I have an two identical scooters, one that runs and one that does not run. As far as I got with it is no spark even with a good core. What I have done was, tested spark at the plug, pulled the core out of the running bike and put into the non running bike. No spark.
Does this lead to the CDI unit going out? Or the fly wheel parts?
Also, does it go like?
Battery>CDI>spark plug core>spark plug>spark?
Any trobleshooting tips would be awesome. Then I would have 2 running bikes.

Wow. The prices for parts are so cheap. Very good thing.
Thank you so kindly for explaining it to me.
Looks pretty simple.
One question, would a bad pickup coil burn up a CDI?
I am kinda hesitant taking my running bike cdi, and placing it into the non running bike "just incase there is a short of somekind frying the cdi. What I don't want is to be stranded with a burnt up cdi.
Then if tested with a good cdi and if it fails to spark its the pickup coil. I am just guessing atm.

Ha, I went to inspect the cdi unit on the old bike. It looks like the cover belt broke and it dangled for its life against the exhaust. Only thing is, check out the plugs!!! Melted! CDI unit is cracked.

I maybe able to find it if I had the proper name. Female CDI unit plugs?
What I would like to do is get a hold of this one plug or both to splice the new ones in.
Any where I may find these plugs with the wires, I do not have a pin detatchment tool unless a tiny screw driver will work? But my guess is that the pins are melted into the plug making them usless.
Any suggestions?

You're a genius. Yea I tried extracting them, there is no way, well, there is always a way but I will go with the easier way for 7 bucks can't beat it. I'll splice it in, solder the wires and shrink tape em several times and buy a new cdi unit for my running bike and place the "old" cdi unit from running bike into the not running bike. I cannot tell how much I appreciate this forum. So much help. interwebz rulez!

Well make a diagram as to what color wire goes to what location so you don't make any more trouble for yourself. I think the pins may be okay inside the melted plastic so you may not need to splice. Just insert them into the new plugs maybe but I can't see them very good from here.
