A flat bar, a saw and a drill. Make two of those and put one on each side. No, i dont do portraits. Edit: Made another awsome drawing with better geometry.

But I would probably just get a different shock. I'm over trying to make things work. Tired of it.

I did the same thing as Katastroff's illustration but I used 1/8" thick by 1 and 1/2" steel square tubing. About 3" in length. Pretty easy. I stuck the bottom of my shock. The eye part inside the top of the tubing. Drilled a hole threw the tubing. Put a longer bolt with nut threw the tubing and eye. Then at the bottom of the tubing I cut about a 3/4" channel on two sides only. Making a (C shape) allowing for the hump in the top of your cvt cover to clear. Again drilled holes for the cvt eye mount.. Same size bolt and nut. Painted it black. Looked good. Cost me probably $3 in hardware. Home Depot. But I already had the square tubing .You'll need a sawsall with an metal blade and drill with bits for either one. If I find a picture I will post it for you.

Your probably gonna have to zoom in on the bottom of the shock to see it.

Sorry, I use my smartphone to upload pics. It does open up if you click on the picture from a smartphone. I can try to re size the image if you want. Anyway what I liked about the mod is the farther you shove the bottom of your shock into the square tubing, not so far that it touches the spring. The more rigid the mod becomes. Holding the shock in place. And if you do get to zoom in. Notice that I changed the direction on each bolt. I think a U bolt and a steel plate opposite side will still have a chance of folding back or collapsing. If you lived near me at all I could make one for you in 10 minutes ,painted.
