see you are a mechanic that works on scooters... not a car mechanic or a motorcycle mechanic. scooters are their own animal they don't resemble a car or motorcycle and have just the basics in common... its like a veterinarian that specializes in apes trying to diagnose a human for a neurological disease. all he can do is guess and try what he knows... I need a scooter mechanic and so far there isn't one anywhere near where I live and it is costing me a fortune trying to get this thing to work... that's why you flip so many, people are sick and tired of owning something that does them no good because all scooters are crap. If they weren't you wouldn't get so many. they are built to fail they are not made to be useful and they know they will make money on parts non stop because they build new parts to fail after a short time of use. I'd trade my scooter for a bicycle right now and the bike would last 200 times longer than the scooter with NO maintenance at all.
there is no luck involved you just need money, mountains and mountains of money to keep it running. what you save in gas you make up for in with parts. you can build a helicopter from scratch cheaper than keeping a scooter working.

I was just trying to instill some hope that there are folks out there who can help u out. It can be frustrating, but with a little know-how and maintenance from time to time even a Chinese scoot can be a cheap and reliable daily driver. Sorry to hear you've had such a bad experience

the only way I can get help is if someone was here in person to work on it and not charge me a fortune to do it... and most everyone that wants me to diagnose the problem wants me to just replace parts on a whim... like I have a whole cache of spare scooter parts that I get for free. Every vehicle I ever had owned does this to me even my old car and mechanics always either lie to me to get me to pay over and over or they are not really mechanics they are back yard youtubers that think they can become a mechanic by watching enough videos I'm sick of dealing with it and with them costing me a fortune just to own dead junk... might as well be a garbage sculpture because nothing I own ever runs. To get a working vehicle I have to pay over 36k and buy brand new all used stuff dies in a week. I am sick of walking 10 miles to work every day, sick of getting paid minimum wage and giving my whole paycheck to a mechanic that has my vehicles for weeks just to tell me they don't know and charge me for that, and sick of paying for parts that I didn't need to replace that people say is my problem that I needed to get the thing working again. Its not a 1 time bad experience its a lifetime of it.
mechanics and doctors are the only 2 professions that can charge you for nothing... they look at the problem and can shrug their shoulders and say they don't know and you have to pay them for that.

Run a cl list ad for an experienced reputable china scoot mechanic.Get some references and call them.If he's a Niz he get'll it running for you right then sell it and find a used Yamaha or Honda.I have bought two Vino's each under 500 and though they are 14 yrs. and 13 yrs they cause no problems.

But throwing parts at an undiagnossed problem on any motor vehicle isn't real bright. And your pricing on new Honda and Yamaha scoots is a bit overstated. And while I realize you are upset this is probably not the best place to vent.We all know you had better be a competent wrench to do a China scoot. And we mostly have wives or significant others that handle the bitching duties in our homes.

cheapest old one I can find is $1200 and I won't get but maybe 500 for my scooter if I get it working and that's if I pay to get it fixed which would be another cost + the cost of a tow there and back to whomever is the reputable scooter mechanic cause I know there isn't one close by... meaning I'll be lucky to get 300 out of it after all is done which leaves the 900 difference which working minimum wage will only take a full year to earn... yeah don't think that idea is going to happen. I really need something right now because walking 10 miles every day is killing me, especially when I have to stand 6 to 8 hours when I get to work. There is no such thing as cheap transportation it took me a year to get the money to get that scooter, that is the reason I went Chinese scooter instead of the yamaha or honda which when I looked it up used at that time I couldn't find anything under 4k.
working transportation will always be over 4k... if its a "needs work" I may get it for 500 or under like the one you found but then I'm back in the same situation of needing to find a scooter mechanic. As I said before you can't get a 2 wheel that works for under the same price as a 4 wheel. a vehicle is a vehicle and they don't care if its half the bulk or size they will charge you just as much. I'm not going to California to get a used scooter after all I have to shop locally within my limits.

I live 20 minutes outside of Mansfield and have NO transportation I have to walk to get everywhere (that's the reason I needed the scooter) I found only one and it was in Columbus... that's a 2 hour drive away from me with a car. No one selling is willing to bring the thing to you and they take first person to come buy... both screwing me over.

no one in my family has a vehicle we all walk. 2 different households shared the same car for 12 years until it died on us... my nephew works now and he has to ride an old bicycle to get there... that's why I said earlier that bikes are more reliable than scooters, that bike is 19 years old and still has had no issues all original parts. I looked at buying a bike now but they run $300 new now and I can't even afford that it sucks. I work non stop just to make ends meet so I can afford to not be homeless I have no time to make friends all I can do is work and then upkeep things at my home. If I go out to make friends not only do I lose money cause I'm not working I have to spend money to have fun... I'm struggling just to get money to avoid walking 10 miles to work every day. I'm just 1 step ahead of being a homeless bum here man don't have the luxury of having friends or a life I have to work hard to keep myself alive. the long walk is wearing my health down which is going to affect how much I can work.

HAS ANYONE DONE A COMPRESSION CHECK?
|

Post by dragnmastralex on Jul 22, 2015 17:26:58 GMT -5
the most we could do to test compression is to put hand over the intake to see if there is a suction and over the end of the muffler to see if is blowing... and yes both do.

wasn't the valves... adjusted them. I have a friend that's a mechanic he looked at it and even he is stumped. he thinks somehow too much gas is getting into it... we give it full throttle to start it an it will start then die out as we hold the throttle. he played with the screws to adjust it but it wouldn't stay started. we tried it with starter fluid in the intake and it still wouldn't start. he mentioned the fuel regulator because he thought too much gas was pouring into the carb and he tried to suck on the other hose from it and it wouldn't give any gas. so any opinions? I would do a compression test. properly of course. look in the tech section.

I don't have a device to run a compression test. It cost a lot of money to get one as well and I don't know anyone with one to lend me. taking it back to the motorcycle shop they might be able to do one but at a cost of $50... again I'm sick of spending money for guesses. would be fine if it was actually the issue but I doubt it is after over 100 different tries with several things... not putting any more money into this thing sorry $200 is enough.
