So I made a thread the other day but.now it's a bigger issue. My electric start won't work. My turn signals don't blink they just stay on when I turn the switch on. When I squeeze the brake the speedometer dims. I hear a humming nose coming from where the electric start is sometimes. All this happened after it got rained on one night. Help please

Sounds like a bad ground wire. Caused by the rain?..doubtful unless the wire corroded quickly.. But usually ground wires get loose..or the cheap terminal connectors simply break off from engine and road vibration. I would check electrical to frame ground and the second ground wire which is engine to frame ground.. Just my 2 cents..

Sounds like a grounding issue like usmcdoc says....but...
I always "try" to put 2 & 2 together. It happened after it got rained on.....so.... knee jerk diagnosis would be a short from water....right?
I would try to figure out what could have got wet and dry it out first...just me.
I would also check the battery and make sure it's over 12.3 volts or so. 12.5 - 12.8 is better.
But if water got in the area under the speedo, it's possible water could be sitting in a connector shorting stuff together. Open it up, disconnect all the connectors and see if there's any water. If so, use some di-electric grease or re position the connectors so it can't happen again.

Every symptom you describe points to a low battery or poor connections at the battery.
How many volts is the battery reading with the engine and key off?
You say you can kick start the engine so do that and check voltage at idle and with the engine revving. If the voltage doesn't go up to 13.5-14VDC when revving then you have an issue. Could be the regulator.
You also said you have no fuse in the harness so you may have cooked wire(s) in there.

My brother-in-law had a Yamaha Zuma that did the same thing. Found out the battery was bad. Replaced the battery and it has been fine ever since.

Y'all ppl are freakin genius. The wires where I had removed the fuse were poorly connected. So I added a 10a fuse in the line like it was originally supposed to be and bam. Magic started

It's really nice to have all this information at your fingertips without having to search the internet for HOURS to little or no avail. Some of us are jackwagons, some of us are skilled mechanics. Either way, you'll be entertained for hours or fix a problem you thought was major in no time. Happy scootin'!

There was sooo much bad..dangerous and useless info on those sites. In fact.. a few closed down because of no donations. Brent does GREAT job running this site..but hey folks..he CANNOT do it alone and keep it up and running by himself.. Let's all pitch in some monetary contribution..no matter how big or small. Glenn

I didn't even waste my time registering on other forums. I read around on this one for at least a good 4 months before registering. I couldn't find a more reliable source. I watched Brent's videos on youtube for a good 2 years before coming to the forum. I didn't even realize it was him that ran this site until i was here a few days. lol.
Sorry about hijacking your thread Renegade! lol.
