Yes. If your weights are too light, the variator won't force the belt to move outward. If the belt doesn't rotate fast enough, the clutch won't engage. (going nowhere fast)
Without weights, your variator won't work. Too much weight, you get into high gear too fast and stay there.
It's all about keeping your motor in it's optimal torque range.

Take some aluminum foil and stuff it in your 4.9g roller to even them out with the other 5 of them and let er rip!!!

You gonna laugh at me but... here the solution. In the kit there was two adapter (washer) first time i put it i was enable to fit the castle washer for the starter crank. So i was like might not be needed for my model so i didnt put it. When the rain stop i went back outside to work again on it and i notice that the moving pully have 3 little "stud" the old variator was flush but this one have like 3mm. So the fix was to take out the starter clutch and put the adapter and now it all ok.

I had 5.5 before but i cant put those roller because i miss one. does more weight will help "So i just put a new variator with 4.9g and a new belt." <-- there are the key words..AND your problem. Ok..1. New variator..what brand ans was it stock or performance?..it most likely has a different angle to it which does not allow the belt to ride all the way down in it...to where it is at the smallest ratio(belt should actually be riding right on the CVT bushing to get the lowest ratio) 2. New belt.. Ok what brand? Not all belts are truly the size marked. I bought a phony Bando from a company in Grand Rapids Michigan here.. Measured it inside and out..and it was 12mm shorter than my other 729-17.7-30 belts.. What problem would that cause?? Well..easy..the old belt road all the way to the VERY top edge of the rear pulley. In that position you get the lowest gear ratio for rapid take off. Where that belt rode while stopped..was 8mm down inside the rear pulley. Soo..it was like taking off in second gear..because being that low in the rear pulley changes the ratio. So do 2 things..check to see if the rides all the way down on the CVT bushing up front..and check to see if the belt rides flush..or darn near flush with the rear pulley. If the belt rides too high on the CVT..or too low on the rear pulley..your take off speed will be greatly decreased. Again..your key words here were..new CVT and new belt..both which will adversely affect your performance. Therefore check the belts position on the CVT and on the rear pulley. Also..if it had good take off with 5.5 gram weights..but slower with 4.9 gram weights..that is a key factor it is your new CVT..new belt..or both.Since you using lighter variator weights..you would DEFINITELY get a faster take off speed because the engine would have to rev higher before the CVT would 'shift' to a higher ratio...and you would have a lower top speed..NOT the same top speed or a higher one. I have a Scooter parts/repair shop..so do know that I am not just some opinionated idiot..lol I know things by experience from working on customer scoots. So anyway..check out what I described and explained above.. This can be a good learning experience for folks on here..and THAT is what this site is all about..learning..teaching..sharing helpful information when we resolve a difficult issue etc.. Thanks, Glenn

Variator malossi Mutivar MHR belt stage6 pro performance
With what i said on the last post everything look to be ok now. My take off is good and my top speed still high enough for me. I will re inspect everything tomorrow to see if everything is all right in there. But seem like removing the starter clutch plate at put the adapter in the kit did the job.
