I'm having trouble getting a good seal with my exhaust gasket. You guys have any tips?

Just picked up permatex rtv copper silicone in a tube. $6. Oriellys two days ago. It's like a caulking. Don't know if it's gas proof like some of the others grey, black or whatever. But I can tell you I used it on both of my exhausts 50 and the 100. Not only did it seal but I had to take off the 50 exhaust a day after I put it on and it just came right off. I pretty much had a copper/silicone exhaust gasket in one piece. No scraping or messy clean up.

Thanks 'O'Verse. Sounds like a good idea, I'll give it a try.

Almost forgot to mention. That is my exhaust gasket. I think your "supposed" too coat both sides of a exhaust gasket then put it on. I didn't have one. So like the directions said. I just put a thick 1/4" bead on the exhaust side. Mounted the exhaust carefully so I didn't smear it everywhere. Tightened the bolts down till the ultra copper starts to squeeze out. About an 1/8" gap between exhaust and cylinder. Let that sit for 2 hours or more. Then when your ready to ride and it's fully set. Finish tightening the bolts. Tight enough that they won't vibrate loose while riding but not to tight to blow the silicone out. And then check on them periodically from time to time. Gauranteed seal though.
