hi everyone I was wondering if someone can help me out with my 49cc taotao gy6. 2014. 4000 miles. The scooter was sitting in a garage for about six months and wasn't used. I managed to hook up another battery to it and got the electric starter running. You could hear it turning over but it would not fire up. After trying the electric starter I decided to give it a kickstart. It started up great and I was able to drive it around the block a few times. Engine seemed to run very strong. However when you let the throttle off it will stall out and then after ait's stalls it's very hard to start it again. I find the kickstart want to start it unless I try to use the electric start first either way it's hard to start and does not stay running. Not sure where I should start. I do have a new carb here I can install. any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks!

Ok,
I cleaned the carb out as best as I could and Replaced Gas, sparkplug, CDI and added seafoam etc. I got the scooter running but it seems to always stall whenever i let the gas off or stop. When i had it running it seemed to run great. It will just quit if i let it sit at a stop without revving the engine. Should I replace the carb or is there something else I can do to get the idle running properly?
Thanks again!

I just use a nail put it on one side of the cap and tap it lightey a couple times and it should turn on its side then I use needle nose to pull it out.

Of course, if your idle adjustment screw is capped that probably means you have a sealed Carb. It might be more advantageous to buy an unsealed Carb to allow for easier tuning. But that's just my 2 cents worth.

But that's just my 2 cents worth. Lets see here... New carb = $25-35 Unsealing the mixture screw = $0 Decisions decisions...

I've just had bad luck with the whole "freebie" thing so far when it comes to Modding existing parts. If you've got the skill/luck go for it.

I don't think it's a terrible idea to buy a new carb either. With a non-adjustable needle, I couldn't get mine to stop sputtering from being too rich anytime the accelerator pump squirted in stock form. You can raise the needle with washers to enrich the mix, but you can't really lower them in many cases to lean it if needed. That said, if all that the carb suffers from is a cap on the mix screw, I'd at least try removing the cap before purchasing one.

I switched out the carb with a perfectly working replacement. Still stalling. Also replaced ignition cord. I Increased the idle speed as well. Not really sure what else to check now. Seems to run fine minus the stalling

Try a valve adjustment and check for intake/vacuum leaks.
