Just follow the wire and see if all is good. If not, fix it. if they are right, your CDI could be fried.

The purpose of this forum is to help. With that in mind i have a few questions. 1) where did you get the bike? 2) have you ever had it running? 3) why no key? I've got no intention to help someone with a stolen bike but i have bought bikes without a key before so i will work on the assumption that this isn't stolen. If you have had it running than the cdi was good. If not all bets are off. That link that niz did was how to wire a dio cdi to work on the Eton because it was much cheeper. The reason they gave you that link was so you could check your current wiring. I can't and won't tell you how to fix that mess of wires but you can test your cdi and stator. With a multi meter you can check your trigger wire from stator. If that checks out next make sure the coil is grounded to the frame and frame is grounded to motor. Run wire from trigger on stator to the proper terminal on cdi (i would run a temp wire on this part to eliminate harness issues) Make sure the coil wire on cdi goes to coil and that the coil is grounded. If not run temp wire. Then take a battery charger and hook the positive to cdi positive and the charger negative to cdi negative and frame and engine ground. Turn charger in and kick bike check for spark. No spark double check your wires and connections. Still no spark bad cdi. If you have spark fix the rats nest of wires and put a new key switch in it. 20 to 40 bucks will get you a ignition, seat lock and gas cap set. That will let you know where you stand. You really need to fix the wire issue and ignition. I have an Eton manual and wire diagram somewhere. My instructions aren't for hot wiring they are temp for diagnosing. Let's say it isn't stolen and you get stopped with wires twisted togather and no key the cop will assume it is stolen until you prove otherwise

My instructions will eliminate any issues with the bike wiring so you can test the cdi. If you need one the Eton is about 80 and the dio about 30. Either will work if wired properly. I can look for the Eton manual if you need it

A sudden stop like that could be cdi or a wire issue. I would guess wiring
