The only problem with that pipe ie that its not supported , only thing holding it on is the nuts and studs underneath the engine

If you have feeler gauges at least measure the ring end gaps. The bore definetly seems to have a ridge at the top.
Cool hoemade exhaust. Tapered diffuser section. Bet this sucker had it's neck wrung on a regular basis.
Build up in comb. cham. from low temps due to low compression.
If you can swing the cheddar I say cut to the chase and carefully install a Taiwaese biggie block. 47mm.

Stepthrutuner it doesn't seem to have a ridge, at least not enough to where I can notice by touch. What should the ring gap not exceed so I can check.? Can I clean the carbon off the valves with my die grinder with wire brush?

At least what I'm trying to say is I can't catch my finger nail on any ridge at top of cylinder, seems pretty smooth

On the valves, you don't have to completely fill the head with liquid. I do them one at a time. I point the exhaust port up to the ceiling and shoot a good healthy shot of WD40 into it and watch. If any leaks out there's your problem. Then flip the head over so the intake port faces up and repeat.

Also I think that pipe looks pretty cool. I'd use it as is. I'll second that. And can't you get a loop to put around the exhaust and hang it from behind the cooling fan?

Thanks Fox ill check the valves in the mornin and give update. Clank I could i guess use that exhaust pipe but I do have two others the guy gave me, one is a stock exhaust and the other is bigger around. I'll give some picks in the mornin of them to see what you think.

Ok guys here's the update- exhaust valve was leaking bad. So I laped both valves and now they don't leak. I cleaned all the old gaskets off the engine block and cylinder , so,all I have to do is wait for the gaskets to come in. Then I'll clean everything and prelube and start assembly I will update you as I go, thanks again everyone

Can I clean the carbon off the valves with my die grinder with wire brush? Maybe the surface transitions at the upper limit of your ring travel just gave that appearance. As far as ring gap goes:

Stepthrutuner. Yea it looks and feels like its just discolored and not an actual ridge

Got gaskets in today, thought I bought two different sizes 39mm and 44mm but I guess there both 44mm . Which is what I need anyway. But the spare engine I have needs a 39mm gasket set. Well if or when I ever need that one ill have to find a gasket set for it. Mabey on one of my scooter flips sometime down the road. Don't think I'll use that cylinder and head for my personal scoot the piston is to small. The 44mm is s's low enough lol

Ok update everyone , motor is back together, has 150lbs compression wooooohoooo! But it's not running very well, running kinda rich, It might also be misfiring ,the lights keep flickering and sometimes quit working ,then come back on. Where should I start checking for loose connections ? Smokes when giving gas . Looks to be gray color smoke.not blue Has a 75 jet in it ,I raised the clip on the needle one notch up where it was at , no difference I turned idle screw in all the way and then tried one full turn out, then one and a half turn out , then two full turns out. No matter what I do it makes no difference unless I turn it all the way in then it whats to stall

drop the needle instead of raising it.
does the needle match the filter restriction?
