I need some advice, please...
I was hoping to buy a scoot locally last weekend, but the guy never called back ('09, white 7,600mi on the odo, and we agreed on $2500 price). Was very saddened... Anywho, in my excitement of getting a used scooter, I think I may be making poor decisions that I may regret lator.... sigh.
p.s. and here is the original one I'm sad aboot...
edit:
need to edit because it's TOP-SECRET, innit. Heh
Keeping me fingers crossed...

With only that little bit of visible damage, I don't get the salvage title bit. There must have been some other unseen and expensive damage for them to write it off like that. Besides, you don't like the color anyway. You could always wait another week or two and see if anything else comes up?

With the money you are willing to spend you ca. Get something so much nicer. Just take your time. Maybe you can even hit these guys up layer and if it hasn't sold offer a lower price

That's what any rational person would think, right?? I thought that too, but what I've been finding oot aboot Vespas are that because the side cowling is basically a monocoque frame/chassis that extends the whole scoot, when you get a dent, the insurance co (some are bad at it...) just totals the vehicle. And I guess the dealer / shop just re-applies for a "Salvage" Title after an inspection... I'm not 100% sure.
That's just the thing, WAITING. sigh

Get something nicer? Well, this is the ONLY scoot that I would consider buying at the moment... I really loves it, mate.
Yes, I think that's the thing as well. The price is good, and I'm afraid that it will sell if I don't jump on them by this weekend! Snarff
That's why it sucks. I guess it's a gamble.... sigh

Honestly, if that's what you want I would say go for it. These retailed for about 6k brand new. So yes you are getting a deal here. I would personally talk him down to the lowest point possible but that's me. But also don't be araid to wait and see what pops up. It's almost part of the excitement. You could win you could lose lol ...like you said it's a Gamble. Lol

The salvage title is probably just a way for the dealer to recover their butts, OR the PO turned a strictly cosmetic accident done by another person, into their insurance and parts, labor involved total more then the allowed % so the insurance totaled it. The owner or dealer could then buy it back for cheap, but it now has to have a salvage title in order to be legal for the street (title, tags, insurance etc...) That being said.. I'd take the no stories newer with less miles Wasp. 3900 while not cheap, is not bad for the type. Get down to 35/3600 and I think that's within the scope of fair for both sides.
