Nice find. Never seen a 50cc version before. It looks cute and cool. We only had the 100cc version over here.

They are somewhat rare, they were a give away bike for various dealers to attract business. From what I’ve found about 2000 made it to the us. It’s capable of 60-65, period tests. Also plenty of parts are still available. The only thing I don’t like is the 2 plate clutch, a yz 100/125 would fit that though.

They were asking $1000, if I could get them to 5-600 I’d consider it. It’s not cheap but 2T street bikes are a unique breed, gotta pay to play. No answer today maybe because it’s Easter.

That doesn't look like a 2T pipe?

That doesn't look like a 2T pipe? Many of the 2T vintage bikes didn’t have expansion chamber pipes factory, some may of had half wave but usually just standard pipes to increase torque down low for better drivability. A proper expansion pipe kills low end power so you have to slip the clutch a lot more compared to a 4T to get going.

I used to know a guy who rode gas gas trials bikes, and he said they design pipes to make power real low in the power band and make sure the power band is real linear. They cruise along in first at idle and use the throttle to jump and balance the bike. They even have "slow" throttle tubes that make the throttle much less responsive to input so they can vary the throttle to tiny degrees.

Not sure that I would throw a leg over this, it would be WAY too much fun and I probably wouldn't live to ride it again. And that would be a shame. back in the day CR500
