Buying my first scooter - a China drum brake 50 QMB in 2003 when you couldn't even buy rollers online here in the states. Had to get them from the U.K. at Beedspeed. Even made a set on my own from the cut off sleeves of battery powered forklift conector terminals (where the cables are inserted before being crimped and/or soldered on) covered with plastic tubing. They were about 3g. - way too light. I figured out a lot of tranny tuning techniques on my own when not one scooter forum in the U.S. could be found.
EDIT:
Well, at least not for auto scooters, of course.

I've done this one three times now. Come to a stop, put my feet down, drop the scooter stand there looking stupid. Luckily there has been no one around to see it.
Look away, look back, see the car in front almost stopped, jam on the brakes, lock the front wheel and hit the ground beside their rear wheel. Now for the stupid bit. An unmarked car pulls up behind me and two policemen jump out. Uh, oh. By the time they'd checked my license, asked my address (1000km away in another city), how did you get here (flew), where did you get the scooter (bought it), why are you here (studying), why did you fall off (I'm dumb), why were you looking around (lost); another six cop cars had turned up and were proceeding to block off the road checking for vehicle registration and warrant of fitness. Thankfully they didn't notice my bald rear tyre, top box held on by plywood with sharp screws sticking out or the LED headlight. Perhaps they realised I was more interested in my bleeding knees than their questions. Ten minutes later I'm at the supermarket, sitting by the check out putting on band aids with passers by commenting on how sore that looks.

I recall many dumb-ass things...but the worst on this Honda, was pulling off the cylinder and such just after I bought it for inspection and reconditioning. It was somewhat ugly inside, but I honed the bore and installed a new piston set with proper clearances. (It is an '84, with unknown experiences)
Everything being what is was, after finishing the install, I warmed it up and took it down the block. Success! Ran quite well. That is until the piston pin hit the cylinder wall. Strange noise, that confused me at first. Not super loud. Took it home running well, but started looking around for clues. None, so I tore it apart, only to find some funny marks on one side...that is when I looked in my parts box and found the missing clip from the right side...WTF? Semi-Wiped an old cylinder in 5 blocks. Until now, no one knew.

Sat there spinning my flywheel puller tool clockwise for about 5-10 minutes, trying to get it to grab the threads. Then, I started googling "flywheel puller for long case minarellis," because I figured that my flywheel puller must only work for short case minarellis. Didn't even realize how dumb I was until I read in the description of a flywheel puller on Ebay that they're reverse threaded. I know this. I've used it 100 times.
Makes me wonder what other knowledge I posses that never gets utilized because I don't read a description somewhere reminding me to implement it.

Had a dead battery, no problem, I'll just throw up the charger. Forgot I lent it to a friend. Look over and see my deep cycle for the fishing boat. My scoot and deep cycle both have quick connects to pop them on the trickle charger when they're not being used. With no charger I figured I would just use a length of cable I use for camping and what not. Little spark when I plug it in, first try starter sounds a little weird. I decide to give it five monutes and sit down to sip on my beer in case the battery is way dead. Five minutes later that little starter is spinning full speed, but not engaging. I look at it an listen. Then look at it and listen some more. Little dude is spinning his ass off, but not popping out to engage. Im just sitting here sipping my beer considering the reasons why a clean little bedix would obviously be spinning fast enough to to throw the gear out, but totally isnt.
ThenI realize that Ive been hooked up backwards the whole time two quick connect batterys don't have the right connections to be attched correctly . Reversed the polarity of my whole battery. Checked the scoot to find a 40A fuse (unpopped). Why China? I put that battery aside, and later hooked it up in series with the deep cycle to try and flip it back. Still working! Had to swap the voltage regulator on the scoot, but otherwise unscathed.

Besides the full throttle assaults in the neighboring neighborhoods nothing “I” would consider dumb. I’m a safe driver, haha said no one! Burnouts any chance I get, lock up the rear wheel coming to stops. Doubling speed limits nothing a grown child wouldn’t consider.

Spending hours wondering why scooter won't start after putting in new engine.Didn't follow procedure and start at simple things first because of course it won't be that. Turned out no earth wire between body and engine 😊

Turned out no earth wire between body and engine 😊 I've done that before. Even uploaded a video asking everyone for help diagnosing it haha. If that's the worst you've done, you're a rocket scientist in my eyes lol.
