So I have the engine mounted up nice. I'm waiting on a tire and rim. I have put on a new carb, rebuilt the top end. New starter. New starter relay. I can't get it to spark or even crank the new starter. For some reason I have no power. I replaced the battery fuse. Still nothing. I have a new stator and coil coming but that wouldn't explain why the starter won't crank. I did lose the key to the ignition so currently I have the wires splices together in what would be the on position. Any one have any ideas? I'd like to get it running before some of my new parts come.

Have you tried jumping the solenoid with a screwdriver to confirm power and that the starter works?

There really shouldn't be any different wiring for the starter system. They're pretty much the same on all of these small scoots, at least on the starter end. May have different safety switches or something, but at the starter end it's just supplying battery power to the positive terminal of the starter. As long as you leave the scoot's system alone other than adapting the connection to the starter, it should do that job just as it did before. The fact that you have sort of hotwired it makes me wonder if that could be the issue. Maybe the wiring isn't correct. Another thought is to check your grounds. Make sure you have large cables (10AWG or larger) connecting the frame, engine, and battery - terminal. Improper connections or grounds could also cause a no-spark problem.

I got the starter to engage. I can't get it to spark now. I have a new stater and coil. New harness. It cranks just no spark. The cdi is new as well. What could it be.

Could still be related to the "hotwiring". Could be a kill switch issue. Kill wire being grounded. Bad plug.

Can you post up a nice clear pic of your CDI where the plugs/connectors are? Some mina CDI's are wired differently than others color-wise. I've dealt with the issue a few times so I may be able to help if I can see your wires.... Oh- also keep in mind that one of the wires is a "kill" and won't work if grounded. It's usually the black wire w/white stripe. Try unplugging that one from the CDI and see if it sparks...

Disconnect the black and white wire. Still no spark.
