hello,
I try to fix and maintain my peugeot kisbee 4 stroke 50cc, which is a chinese scooter, brand new from 2014, 4000km =2500miles to this day, maintained by the official peugeot seller at 300 miles, 600 miles and 1900miles. next visit is at 5000km.
I have one problem with it, since I bought it, which is the impossibility to cold start the scooter when the scooter is not used for 1 or 2 weeks, whether it is winter or summer; it is worse in winter since it takes only a few days to make it impossible to start.
In summer, the scooter cold starts, from the battery or the kick, after 1 week of non-use but not after 2 weeks. THe only way to cold start with the battery is to put a bit of carburetor cleaner in the air filter, or directly into the air-entrance of the brand new carburetor.
Oddly enough the manual cold start with the brand new kick is always okay [in summer, 4 kicks to cold start after two weeks] [well with the new spark plug the kick is not so good].
Once the scooter has started, it is no problem to hot start it again. There is no problem about the acceleration at low or high speed. There are no fumes. There is no problem with idle in summer, sometimes in winter the scooter dies after a cold start.
The scooter has no problem with cold start, on battery or kick, when I put carburetor cleaner in the air admission. THis product is really good, but I do not want to rely on it each 2-weeks I do not use the scooter.
I join a video of the fail cold start of this morning :
www.k-upload.fr/afficher-video-2017-07-11-1b033495fkisbee2semai.mp4.htmlThe official seller changed the CDI go to higher speed, when he serviced the scooter at 300 miles. I no longer have the original CDI.
I replaced :
the spark plug [latest change, this morning actually]
the engine coil [latest change, this morning actually]
the battery (new YTZ7S / GTZ7S-BS 12V 6Ah, cca 130), maintained with a charger optimate 6 to charge it,
the carburetor + autochoke.
the vacuum tap,
the hoses for fuel and air,
the intake manifold and gasket+ its o-ring,
the fuse and the starter delay (near the battery).
I installed a fuel filter.
I cleaned the fuel tank,
I cleaned the air filter (but I do not have grease to grease it)
I cleaned and greased (with lithium) the stator motor (it was a pain to put it back, because the magnets prevent the 2 long screws to get into the head of the startor motor)
I checked the grey Rectifier (Voltage Regulator) visually and it is not busted.
There was barely any dirt anywhere.
I checked that there is fuel in the carburetor even after two weeks.
My previous spark plug is always a bit white, never chocolate, see the photos
www.abload.de/gallery.php?key=slMjBBGoThis is even after I set the mixture, from some online tutorial, with the mixture screw from the carburetor, the screw is 2,5 turns counter clockwise (default position is 2 turns), from the closed position.
I checked the electrical circuit:
-it is not dirty
here is the photo of the CDI+colored wires
abload.de/image.php?img=img_2704corh8.jpg-wire yellow-blue goes to a wire white-blue from the flywheel
-wire yellow-black goes to the engine coil
-wire green is the ground
-wire white-black is the positive side of the battery [NO kill switch on this scooter]
-wire black-red goes to the wire red-black from the flywheel
I checked the gap between the pickup and the flywheel.. It is 0,75mm, a credit card passes through but a bit difficult. I cannot move downwards the pickup, because I soon as I screw it, it goes upward from the flywheel....
here are the values:
engine is OFF
-stator = resistance between black-red wire and ground = 535 ohm [ norm for peugeot = 517 ohm]
- pickup fly wheel = resistance between yellow-blue wire and ground = 152,3 ohm [norm for peugeot = 145 +- 20%]
-engine coil = resistance between yellow-black wire and ground = long time ago with original coil 0,2 ohm [norm for peugeot = 0,5 ohm +- 20%] =
today with new coil 0,0 ohm !engine is ON and revving, values in VAC:
- pickup fly wheel = black-red wire = 108 VAC
-stator = yellow-blue wire = 0,59 VAC
I checked the 2 wires from the pickup coil resistance like in some tutorial onlin, with the engine ON:
white wire = 23 VAC
yellow wire = 21 VAC
when revving up, both wires go as high 40 or 50 VAC
=> do you agree that there is nothing wrong with the fly wheel nor the wires ?
I tried:
cold starting on battery with
-the fuel cap removed
-the top of the spark plug put in fuel and installed it quickly to try to start
=>both methods failed
=>Do you agree that it is either the CDI or the timing of the engine ?the valve clearance:
peugeot says they must be 0,10mm +- 0,02mmm
I measured them with a cheap set of gauges
-intake= 0,10mm gauge is free, 0,12mm is possible to slide in and more or less free, 0,13mm is quite difficult to slide in and move around
-exhaust= same thing, but 0,12mm is already hard to move around
there is a little room when I try to move around the nipple of both the valves
what are the good values for the clearance when cold start is bad ? How do I know the new clearance is wrong ?
I have spend already much money on this. what can I test now ?
