Looking at my options for an exhaust upgrade for my Gyro, there's very few options for bolt on pipes for them and anything performance is big $$ Have come across this one in Japan, currently it's 1/4 of the price of a new one but it'll still be at least $350 by the time all fees and shipping etc are paid for. If I'm going to be spending anywhere near that much I'd like to at least know if it's a decent design or just for show? My other option is customising a pipe from another scooter, like this which I think was originally meant to be a Dio pipe I've got a Stage6 Pro rep here that's already been cut to change from Minarelli to Morini, might be too much pipe for the Gyro though.

Honestly Raizer, some of the Japan sites..maybe the Gyro people in Japan, seem to enjoy the 4-stroke looking pipes on 2 strokes. IMO, you simply cannot get "performance" from a "Baffled" chamber. Quiet, yes. Will it run? Yes. Will it give you good power? Not very likely. The Dio pipe, if a proven design...and if you can get it to fit, is a much better option.
I had one and it worked well. It did not fit well, but little things only matter if not in your mental design envelope. For me, the reverse curve is not needed for a Gyro. We are doing a straight back design with a rear stinger/muffler, plus a center bleed with same. The center bleed is quieter, but more power in the middle.

I agree with ThaiGyro. I have a PG short and a V8 pipe for my Kymco SC10 which is very similar to the AF16. I do not really care for either one of them. I would much rather have decent chamber pipe of some sort.

I also have the PG short and YMS V8 black(painted)28mm flange. I like the V8, it ran well on my Kymco SC10 engine from idle till it max out around 9000 rpm. The PG short on the other hand did not wake the engine up till I hit 7200-7500 rpm and revved over 10k rpm. Top to bottom: PG Short, V8 Black, Tecngas Next-R I think oldgeek has the clear coat version of the V8 pipe which is different from mine and also has a larger(29mm) flange

Hey Raizer, what are the pipe dimensions on that modified Stage 6 pipe? I don't think it too much at all. The Pro Replica pipe are a bit overrated from all the hoopla I have seen. Might just be the right thing for a stock, modified stock street performer.
There is a collection of threads on various pipes here on the forum. Might give you a second thought on that Stage 6.

I've never actually measured it, it's pretty much stock dimensions for the Minarelli version I just had 1 bend cut and welded on a different angle and the flange rotated. Brought it home from storage tonight and it's WAY off fitting in the Gyro, would pretty much need a whole new headpipe made and it may also be a little bit too fat to fit down where the stock muffler sits. I was hovering over the bid button on the REVIVE pipe last night, the seller pulled the auction with 3 minutes to go and it already had one bid I'd been lead to think that the REVIVE pipes are a proper chamber with that 4t muffler looking sleeve over the top, probably not though.

It is possible that it is a "chamber" with a sleeve, but unless you can dissect it, how would you know? Here in Thailand, there are pipes that look like a small fuel tank. They look nice, but actually are 2 stroke pipes. They work without engine or carb modifications on a Gyro. Cool? Not for me.

I can't find it now, but I'm sure I've seen a diagram of one showing it containing a proper chamber and only the last inch being baffled. Might not have been a REVIVE pipe though, could have been an Arri or a random one I found on a Japanese sight during a late night Google lol www.arriracing.com/index.htmlDo some nicer looking pipes

HA! I see that they do some nice looking designs, though some have strange inner baffle, instead of a muffler...others have huge external muffler.
First two rows are GyroX, third row is Canopy, fourth row is Gyro UP. They all have a two-piece pipe. Header section and cone section.
I have had a few Japanese contacts swear that Gyro's don't do well with pipes...say they crack welds. Not sure why that would be, unless too much engine bay heat?
We plan to do a mild steel version first. When happy with performance, we will also do a stainless copy. That would be more brittle than mild steel. All in the fun!

Looking at a few Japanese builds I've come across I would guess in a lot of cases the cracking is caused by lack of solid mounting. A lot of pipes seem to be mounted by a rubber lined glorified hose clamp lol.
I'm very interested to see what you come up with!

Yeah...kind of interesting. The Gyro OEM pipe is a thick, heavy, beast...but pivots with the engine. Why would any pipe be a problem, unless the wall thickness/tuning/timing was too lean/mean/blow up machine?
If I can get off my ass...meaning less real work and more design/building, we will have some thing soon. No committments, however. Life has never been that smooth...

Weird how they did the stinger, but still sexy asf. Stops the pipe blowing oil on the tyre or anywhere else you don't want it
