Thanks. I notice they list that stuff for carb gaskets, -uh no thanks... They say it is solvent based. I will try to remember it for case gaskets.

That stuff is super popular in the motorsports world. Most of the time the OEMs use the Three Bond version of it and it works well and flows out nicely.

i use "Honda Bond", equivaliments being "Yama Bond" "Kawasaki Bond" etc.
in my country about only brand/other stuff available is Permatex, and usually only by couple products available from its Range.
makes it utter pain to get/source exact same products as other people use in other countryes.

How about 'the right stuff'? I've seen it recommended, but have not used it.
I do not generally use sealers on gasketed connections. Most times, the sealer will keep the parts spaced just a bit apart until the sealer oozes out, and then the two pieces being joined are loose as the sealer was keeping things from tightening up to the specified torque. If there is some roughness in the sealing surfaces, a very slight coating of sealer, just enough to fill the scratches or gouges, may do the trick. In general, if the sealing surfaces have not been damaged, the gasket itself should be enough. The diaphragm on these carbs should not be coming into contact with fuel for the most part. The slide or piston will contact fuel at the pin end, but the diaphragm and spring are at the other end, and only vacuum will touch the diaphragm. If they are being bathed in fuel, I think something is wrong. Fuel should be drawn up around the needle, and into the intake, but not on top of the diaphragm which is exposed to manifold vacuum, nor up from the needle to the bottom side of the diaphragm. A bloated diaphragm can sometimes shrink back to normal if wiped clean and left apart from the fuel source or cleaner that made it expand. tom
