Washington doesn't have emissions on bikes so that's nice. No emissions test for the scooter that smokes like a burger king at lunchtime but still got em on cars, and a 'check engine' lite is an automatic fail. My truck has 280k how am I supposed to keep that light from coming on haha. They adopted a new law in Amsterdam since jan 1st. No 50cc gasoline vehicles before 2011 allowed in the city centre anymore! When you have a classic moped or scooter before 87' (like my honda vision and suzuki tsx) you can get a notation on your registration papers that allow you to go into the city during weekends and holidays. But otherwise its restricted area! And believe me....the rest of the country will follow this example sooner or later! Talking about killing the scene....

Man! There making you buy new ones? That sucks. I guess that means you'll have to order a new tao tao off Amazon just for the title and plate "That's right, Officer. It's a 2018. I know it looks really old, and I have no idea why it smoking like that, and I know it's loud, but I promise is a 2018!" Or maybe just buy a brand new rc-one block? Technically that would be a brand new motor!

There is a really strong classic scooter scene where I live. A lot of them are quite willing to talk about their scooters. But unless you have a Vespa, or Lambretta your looked down on. Ten years ago there was a strong scooter tuning scene in the U.K. It's pretty much gone now. Used to be lots of forums, and a good social scene. Not anymore. Hard to say why it has gone this way. Probably a combination of things. Cheap Chinese imports. The price of a quality two stroke now. And younger people just not as interested in vehicles of any description are probably all to blame.

The city center is the area where there's a 50kph speed limit. Its not really determined by blocks. More like the density of pedestrians and vehicles. More pedestrians, lower speed limit. We don't really have square city blocks like in typical american cities. Its just a bunch of roads and streets in no clear order

The funny thing about HI is the law only applies to scooters. So if you paid for your 30-40k Harley, be as loud as your want.

Up here in Ontario Canada all scooters are classified as small motorcycles that requires plates/sticker and driver be licenced to drive it and insured. In my area (Greater Toronto)there are quite a few scooters but are still considered second class or just looked down apon by motorcyclists. I am a part of a club but its hard for me to get out to gatherings because most (99%) take place clear across the city and it would take me over an hour just to get to the meeting place.

I would like to see more of them.
Here in NC when fuel prices were higher, and before state laws were passed scooters were everywhere. We had active scooter clubs with planned rides town to town, even some on the Blueridge Parkway. Now you only see a few.
The good ole days?
