Yeah it might work I still got the naraku cdi lying around. Thou it did not work on its own, but maybe the combo will. You dont think it will fry the original cdi? Because its pretty expensive

It shouldnt,you are isolating the ignition from the stock unit..They may be using the pickup as a tach signal and to energize the light relay,so that may need to be spliced also..I'd try the first method to see if it works..

Buy a Taotao or Jonway. Strip the stator, flywheel, pickup coil, and complete wiring harness, along with all igntion components. Install in the Kymco. Ride. Simple. You need an AC power source from the stator & flywheel combo to take the place of the DC sourced power on the Kymco. You need a pickup that will pop the CDI and make it fire at the proper time. I think the coil and plug wire should be fine as-is. You will need to wire the kill switch / ignition to ground the CDI AC power pulse or firing pickup pulse to stop running. You will need charging / power wires from the stator/flywheel CD power supply - fed to the rectfier/regulator to operate the electric components, such as headlight, cluster, lighting, etc. Possibly better to do a transplant than a donor/substitution... well, easier. tom
