Me personally i only ride in city just need up to 40mph for the streets, which i already getting (38mph) with just changing the belt, everything is stock on my setup. What i really want to have from here is ability to accelerate faster to get ahead in heavy traffic doing frequent line changes. Right now say i am going 28mph line next to me moves 35mph and has opening i cannot go there because it takes me too long to go from 28 (at 6000 RPM) to 35mph (7200RPM) even with WOT. In other words acceleration dynamics of 49cc gy6 is just barely enough to be ahead of 80% of daily driver from red light with WOT, but if i go up to 20mph WOT and have to let throttle go for second (unexpected situation on the road) then go WOT again i see how cars in lanes next to me slowly go ahead while i am waiting for my scoot to slowly accelerate to its max speed holding WOT.
In 49cc there's no extra power left to use it slowly climbs to max speed at WOT, in car there's plenty of power available more you press gas faster it accelerates, is it possible to get this with 49cc?

MY 72cc bbk with A9 cam hauls ass. so much that I got tired of so much acceleration and geared it up with 2.88's to get a faster cruising speed. I weight 210lbs and can cruise at 41-42 GPS but ive had it over 47 on a down hill grade. the 72cc bbk will make it feel like its safe to drive in traffic its really the best bang for the buck. before I changed gears my top speed was 37-38 but it got there really fast

There's no substitute for cubic centimeters. - some wit
But it's true. I noticed appreciably the throttle response at mid-range with a 72cc piston/cylinder. Did not really note the top end as going faster than previous was not the goal. I can't do the GPS/drive thing at the same time. Maybe later. It will/did peg the speedometer on a slight downhill grade.(I glanced) Having the acceleration available is so much more enjoyable especially because you do not have to 'plan' so much making maneuvers that won't get you run over. Doing nothing but 47mm bore is significant and noticeable. If you leave the carb & exhaust alone, and don't meddle with the rollers, springs, etc, you will be pleased, I think. If you don't abuse the rpm's I expect it will last pretty well. I did not notice any change in vibration from the new piston weight difference. tom

I also read about 49/17 Performance Final Drive Gears that can make acceleration better, someone tried this?
Will bigger crab make difference vs jetting up?

By every rule of physics, 49/17 gears will not improve acceleration, given fixed torque & horsepower rating.
They are effectively an overdrive gear set compared to factory originals. That means they will move more distance per rotation of the engine. Think of acceleration in first gear in a car or truck, and compare that to same in 3rd or 4th. First & 2nd are much more energetic. The higher gears are a bit slower. Unless the original setup was whacky, there will be zero improvement in acceleration. tom

Good thing i did not want to dig into gearbox right now anyway.
Do i also swap to performance CDI or its only if i need very high RPM?

So do i need sport CDI for better drag?

The sport/racing CDI's are OK..but they advance the timing making it a little harder to start.

I do not know how much the makers agree on things, but from appearances, the orange CDIs are labeled 'performance', the black, standard. Some have tested and compared, and found the orange CIDs are not a positive for performance. Beyond that comment, search the web and this site for evaluations. tom

If you want to be quicker and faster, get a 2 stroke scooter. (mic drop) This site is a treasure trove of information, spend some time reading the tech setion, visit 90GTVert's Youtube channelEveryone that's replied has shared good info. No point adding my when its already been shared by others here.

Guess you were referring to this vid.

Tested my 0-30 after watching this video and my scooter without any upgrades capable going 0-30mph (GPS, "Racing Tester" app) in 8 seconds on even road, however 90GTVert's took 18 seconds?
Someone have link to thread about what setup people have and what their speed/acceleration is?

katt, what is your body mass? 90's a big boy which has definite effects on acceleration. I think the timings he did were of essentially a 'stock' 49cc with no modifications. tom
