Looks like 90gtvert linked you to a Hoca clone. Which is a great variator for jog minarelli platforms. I'm pretty sure the only difference in material or performance between the Hoca an ssg is the name. So your good there👍. I recommend picking up the variator face also. Wether it be Hoca or ssg. You don't Have to but these variators have a coating on them and it's probably better to run both at first. With my 93 Jog the Hoca variator gave me a feel of smooth constant acceleration all the way threw its gearing. 6-7 gram rollers. HOCA and SSP-G are the same thing. HOCA is no longer in business, and so we started importing the old HOCA product as SSP-G in an effort to continue to supply the industry with good quality affordable Taiwanese performance parts, and make the brand our own at the same time so we won't be at the mercy of another company closing and leaving us hanging like HOCA did. This being said, since we're the sole importer in the US for HOCA product, we still stand behind it all and as there is some HOCA branded product still available, feel free to buy it and we'll take care of you. Yes I use a polini hi speed on my stock 49 jog its been ages since I fitted it I remember better take off and a little top end and a nice sticker,it,s a bolt in fit but I took the starter off at the same time.if you don't,t mind me saying you seem to be all over the place trying to find advice and set ups,there isn,t one solution,if I was you I,d get them running stock first then (as the song has it) one mod at at time sweet Jesus.

Right on. I'd hope to be able to keep my electric start for mine and my girlfriend's setup. Polini is good stuff though and for myself I may go with the Hoca, but for my gf's scoot I'd like to stick to higher end stuff with the hopes of replacing it less often.
I appreciate all the feedback though and I'm not really sure what you're referring to as far as me being all over the place...acquired two scoots, got them running, tuned carbs, researched and bought exhaust (arriving tomorrow), and now I'm onto the CVT and researching what parts might work for what I want to accomplish. Part of my research involves asking others for opinions when I find something I like (not a ton of info available in US for many of these parts). Keep in mind I'm working on two identical scooters simultaneously as well. Couldn't do it without you guys!

Please forgive my ignorance here, I am a lifelong mechanic, but new to the scooter, and especially variators. I have been messing with my Vino clutch and variator since putting a pipe on it, and moving the “power” up in the rpm.
After a good bit of experimenting, I really hit the sweet spot yesterday. She pulls hard right off, revs right into the power, and stays there, even when I took the biggest hill in town, it dug deep and stayed right in the power. Even with my fat ass on it, she does just over 45mph on the flat. Basically I could not be happier with how it works. I want to know what an aftermarket variator etc. will give me?
Sometimes you don’t know what you are missing till you try😉

A quality variator will hold a more constant rev range. Keeping you in the power band more for better acceleration. While perhaps giving you an extra couple of miles an hour.

a good overrange will give you even smoother power delivery more consistent rpms under acceleration. and if you have the power more top speed due to having a wider range of ratios available in the cvt system. i think the belt is something like 100mm longer than stock or pretty close to it. with my stock gears the over range would have added about 12-15 mph top speed to my bike. with the stupid gears i have now it would be closer to 20-30 mph gain with enough power.

From what I’ve read around on the high end variators Polini’s high speed and Malossi’s Multivar, people tend to favor the Multivar over the High speed saying the Multivar holds revs longer and you get a higher topped out gain of 2-4 mph.
You say your Jogs are 1e40qmb engines? Clones? Are they not true Yamaha (Minerelli)? They are pretty much the same thing but there are some significant differences.

I ended up putting Multivar clones in both of them and they are great.
