Does anyone have any advice or suggestions regarding an aftermarket pipe for my 99 Jog. Currently it's completely stock. I may install a BBK later on, but no immediate plans. Can anyone recommend a good pipe for a stock setup and possibly 70cc at a later date?
Here's what I'd like to find in a pipe:
1. Favoring top end over low end power 2. Not incredibly loud, but willing to put up with it for good performance 3. around $200 or less preferably
I've heard good things the Tecnigas Next-R, but really have no idea what to even look for or how to research this stuff. Even if someone can just point me in the right direction as far as how to research this. With so much scooter tech, there doesn't seem to be much info on the websites we purchase thingsfrom and for specific things like this, I'm not sure where to look.
Thanks!

You could always run a cheap YMS v8 black can with plastic heat shield in the meantime. It's quiet, a little louder than stock. Looks like a stock pipe. It has some low-mid grunt. It's not a screaming high rev pipe. I know you said you wanted top end but your stock bore exhaust port timing is a limiting factor in top RPM. I have used the black can v8 on various 47mm bores. I even used it on my 54mm bore and it actually ran pretty decent. They are fairly cheap and they hold up pretty well. It can always serve as a back up pipe later on for your 70cc. Simple to tune. It can be a pipe ti get you going in the meantime.
Then, you can hunt for the BBK of your choice/ preference and availability. At the same time bore hunting, you can find a pipe that matches your bores power

Tecnigas aint a good pipe for anything beyond stock. Id go with a yasuni R. Dunno the retail price tho. Yasuni R works good on a stock cylinder and works good on a cast iron 70. You can use em up to midrace 70's! Its the best compromise you can buy.

I've seen those around. I'll check on the price and definitely keep it in mind. Have you had one on a similar setup? What's the noise level like?

It did 90+ kph on the speedo on a stock motor with polini speedcontrol and yasuni R. Have mounted dozen of yasuni R's on various setups during my job as a scoot mechanic in a real shop. They just work very well. Noise levels are very low. They have a well designed and big muffler. The pipe itself is made from a high gauge(?) steel. Very tick steel so the pingy sounds you ofter hear from performance pipes aren't really there with yasuni's.

Okay sweet. Thank you for all the input. Priced them out at about $200 shipped, so that’s doable.

Looks like the YMS is $150. Only $50 less than the Yasuni, so I might as well go big or go home.

Kenho, try searching for tecnigas silent pro,or naraku traffic. They are street or stealth exhausts around £100 over here in the UK,they are much better than stock 10mph with jetting and your neighbours will still speak to you.there are no charts or help out there I spent hours looking.

Geoff Thanks for the info Geoff. I’ve spent many hours looking for information that just isn’t accessible (in English at least) as well. Thanks for doing it for me this time so I don’t have to haha! I was definitely starting to put in some time and not really getting anywhere. I always use the forum as a last resort because I’m stubborn, so I also always really appreciate the help you guys provide. I’ll look into those pipes. Seems like we are spoiled in the US with being able to buy just about anything fairly cheap and always having an amazing array of choices, just not when it comes to scooters haha. The rest of the world seems to have it way better, especially Europe! Can’t wait til my girlfriend graduates and we move to Europe! Going to build one bad machine with all locally sourced parts once I’m there. Just because I can haha.

Super helpful, thank you. Nice to see some sort of testing and comparison of common pipes. Looks like the Yasuni R may be a great choice. Now should I wait until I get my scooter on the road (have to reassemble after acquiring it non-running condition) to order the pipe or just throw caution to the wind and assume confidence in my ability to get her running haha!?

Here is some more information for you. Popular pipes on a 50cc air cooled cylinder www.pedparts.co.uk/c/asset/sports-pipe-blog/50cc.pngSame pipes with a Polini sport 70cc kit www.pedparts.co.uk/c/asset/sports-pipe-blog/70ccPolini.pngI know a lot of people like the next R exhaust. I am not a fan. It's ok. I had one on my slider. With a standard cylinder and a 17.5mm carb the Yasuni R was about 7 MPH faster when I changed it. Like Lucass2T said though, the reason I brought the R was it is a great everything pipe. Even though I told my wife I wouldn't tune this scooter. It's just for riding to work on. with a stock cylinder it works. I know if I want to fit a 70cc kit. It will work. Fit a 50cc race cylinder. It will work. If I sound like a Yasuni fan boy, let me tell you they do rust.

Just ordered the Yasuni R. Those graphs, if at all accurate, say everything. Probably just going to paint it black to avoid the rusting situation as much as possible.

I've had a tecnigas next r, and it is a good entry level pipe but it's no big winner. It's a great pipe to introduce you to expansion pipes, because it completely changes the powerband from a stock pipe. Pretty low power tho. If you can get one cheap, like less than a hundred bucks near, I definitely suggest it. But the yasuni pipe is going to be much better. Mop-n-glo floor wax helps keep the pipe from rusting.
